They don't even have Queen on the Honorable Mention list!

Any list of top rock bands that does not contain the words "Thin" and "Lizzy" is not worth reading.

"Led Zeppelin - IMO they are overrated. But the majority know that this band were intrical in the beginning of the Heavy Metal/Hard Rock movement, along with Black Sabbath."

Led Zeppelin made the underground blues a common art form. They were not thieves as people call them, as it was very common for bluesmen to "borrow" from each other. Led Zeppelin changed the way rock bands played live. They perfected the word "improvisation". No other band (except for perhaps the Grateful Dead) could take 90 minutes of prepared music and play for over 3 hours, every night... and be different and interesting every night.

Where is Rush? Without Rush, progressive rock wouldn't even be close to a commercial thing.

Let's keep in mind, this is an American list. Using the FM Tribute was a great example, but of all the artists that played there, how many were US-born?

Which would be easier: Naming 20 European artists influenced by Queen, or 5 US artists influenced by Queen?

From an American perspective, #23 is exactly where Queen belongs. But from a European perspective, if they wouldn't be in the top 5, it would surely be an outrage.

You aint half correct there GH.

Okay, maybe you just didn't understand me completely...

I love Rush, and without their contributions to progressive rock, the entire genre would not be something the general commercial music audience would be interested in nearly as much as they are today.

Eh??? The Beatles? Rock? MY ARSE, They are the most over-rated bag of bollocks ever. Bob Marley?? Excuse me - BULLSHIT. Theyre reggae. Who the hell compiled this?? If you look at music as a whole then Queen would probably appear in the top 10, The Beatles would be top, they always are, but a Rock survey?? This is pants!
Chom own mudder fukker.

Just because you don't like The Beatles doesn't change the impact they had. Face it - The Beatles changed the world. And The Beatles influenced (in one form or another along the way) virtually every rock-oriented band to come after them.

But yeah, I can't swallow the Bob Marley thing too well, either.

Let's put it in Brian's own words...

"Nobody beats The Beatles".

I can understand why The Rolling Stones are overated since they've been playing the same R&B riffs on almost every single song they have. But The Beatles, please these guys deserve all the respect they get.

Well said, both Dan and Guitar Hero.

I'm not the biggest Beatles fan OR the biggest Rush fan, but I do think they should both be on there. This is a list regarding INFLUENCE, not technical quality or personal taste. In which case Rush, the Velvet Underground, Bob Dylan, the Everly Brothers, the Beatles, the Stones, Zeppelin, Nirvana, David Bowie, and REM!!!!!!! all need to be given a shout.
