Justin Hawkins from The Darkness in his latest interview agreed that the name of his band derived from one of Queen songs, You And I. In a tight corner he had to agree that Queen is and was the greatest rock band ever. As he says: --You And I was my favourite song for a while and then I discovered a little miracle in the lyrics of this song.--
--Music is playing in THE DARKNESS...-- this line changed the musician's life and he understood that his band MUST have this name.
Justin also adds: --I wish I was talented as much as Freddie Mercury, he's my idol...--
So GO Justin, GO!!! We are with you!

this seems highly unlikely, to me anyways, and Justin wasn't in the band to start with

April fools or not...im dithering in the whole darkness front...i have their album, but for some unknown reason they annoy the hell out of me sometimes...not sure why that is..overexposure..i dunno *scratches head...* ;D

I read somewhere that The Darkness was named after their drummers (Ed) depression. Anyone know if this is true?

I'm glad you guys liked the idea about The Darness, but I have to dissappoint you darlings, this was just an April's 1st joke. :(
Anyway, the truth is that QUEEN WAS AND IS THE F***ING BEST ROCK BAND ON EARTH! ;)
