It's a nice idea. I've always seen these sites that send recordings to each other to get certain instruments recorded, etc. But I've never tried. What songs?
But can I ask why I wouldn't be mixing the results? Remember, it's what I do for a living. I'm not familiar with your work, so post something and we'll decide, together.
A proof of concept is needed. And I think surround is out of the question. Too much for so little. Maybe go with 24-bit/96kHz. It depends on our systems. Compatibility and all that.
Peace,
Adam.

We should only record at max 96/24, because unless someone has access to MLP Lossless DVD-Audio mastering software, the most we can go on a DVD-Video audio disc is 96/24 PCM, 48/24 DTS / Dolby Digital 5.1.
I do have a basic DVD authoring program, TMPGEnc DVD Author, but it does not support DTS. And my cracked DTS encoder only does DTS 718kbps, as it does not properly work on the 1.536Mbps coding. My Dolby Digital encoder, also cracked, works fine though but I would rather prefer high quality DTS software simply for audio quality.
Will tell you guys what: When I get back from my vacation in late August, I will post details for the plans for a Queen covers CD (which of course like I said will raise funds towards 46664 AIDS Foundation) and how it will be done. I will work over these plans when I am in Ontario next month.

Sounds like a plan. Maybe we should select some songs to try before then. How many? Maybe 3-4?
Btw, I'd still record 24/96 because the final result will sound better. I remember when I made the change and it was v.pleasant. Only 2 months ago. Ahhh...
Let's forget the whole dvd thing. Keep things basic. Basic recordings. But we'll have to figure out what systems to use. I use my multi-track and then send to CubaseSX to mix. I just find that the most flexible. What do you all use?
Maybe for compatibility, I could put together a CEPro mix. I recently got Audition 1.5, which is basically CEPro in Adobe's house! It's really good for editing.
Peace,
Adam.

Dear Adam, I used to work in a recording studio not SO long ago - I am into digital image processing now. I am not familiar with your work either, although I read your comments regularly on this board and I have ever found them very clever.
I have one strong reason, nonetheless, for choosing myself over you, that reason being that I was talking about MY dream after all, and I do not feel myself acquainted with you in such a manner as to include you in my dreams.
Yet it was my dream, and just that. In real life, be my guest. I do not have time to spend in such businesses for the moment.

great ideas.if i had much more free time in my days i would collaborate, if it could help :)

Rightiho, Wilki. I'll leave it to you. We can all share the dream, hopefully, eh?
I think it's cool to get together a few folk from the board for some music. I think we could come up with something really strong.
I wait with baited breath. :)
Peace,
Adam.

Hi everybody !!!
It seems to me as an extraordinary project for us, Queen fans that can make some music of our heroes and also make a kind of force to help and get some funds to 46664, I think it is great.
One of my dreams has been to record an entire CD covering Queen songs, now with this project we can all together work in something special with some tracks that everyone in here wants to help or support in anyway they can do.
We should try this, but working as an entire global team and giving the credit to whom he or she deserves, but thinking that our goal is to do something out of this world.
If there are no more new Queen songs, then maybe we can record some Queen songs for us, real Queen fans.
It´s the choice of everybody in QZ, but count me in!!!!
Rafael.

And, by the way, I have some scores of the music, they are ready to use if you need them.
Can anybody share by the time the No One But You scores?
And Inu Yasha, why do you want to record Solo Por Ti in spanish???
:)

Love this version--just great!

Words fail me, another sack of shit, why do people like this bother, surely they must know they are crap.
Maz · Member since
Wow, great job keeping the criticism constructive, Harv. Why people bother, indeed.
I liked it. It does sound awfully 80's-ish, but Vinou gave a decent reason why that is the case. I do like the added Tear It Up bit; makes a song that can be very routine a little more interesting.

Just to do something for a possible CD single...;)
And for tracks on this CD (which I'm thinking of calling "The Road To The Stage Of Champions"), I'd like for us as a group to attempt some of the usual songs and some of the less usual songs, i.e.:
I Can't Live With You (Rocks Version)
My Life Has Been Saved (remixed from Adam's version with more powerful (and real) drums, perhaps)
You Don't Fool Me
Rock In Rio Blues
Invincible Hope (I don't have this though, so I'm not sure - if anyone who already has this burnt on CD, can burn this on CD for me, please let me know)
No-One But You
We Will Rock You
We Are The Champions (Robbie version w/ new guitar solo)
...and others.
Any other ideas? I'm looking to do more obscure but good Queen material rather than the "cliches" (commonly known songs)

2-3 should be good. I myself won't be likely able to record complete songs until October, although I may be able to start *something* when I am in Ontario next month (As always, my drumsticks will be with me when I am gone on vacation, and I will have a computer to work with as well as a microphone, so you never know)
Hey Adam, if you wouldn't mind doing me a favour and just put a little bit of something together for me to work on, would you be able to start on recording a couple of Queen tracks for me to work on the rest of when I get back from Ontario? Or if not, can you send me some multitracks for some of your already-recorded Queen works so I can work on re-mixing it? (By remixing, I mean slightly changing or adding some parts, and then mixing it for 5.1 Dolby Digital and DTS)
Either way, please let me know :)
Oh! Also, does anyone know of any good DVD Authoring/Mastering software I can use to...?:
-input several audio channels
-use DTS as an optional channel
-use 96/24 PCM (if possible)

Also, does anyone know any websites where I can download a DTS encoder that will encode at 1.536Mbps (48kHz), aside from Minnetonka's site?
Google searches don't seem to work for me :(
