Oh c'mon, lighten up ;)
I'm not jumping to anyone's defence. And I certainly don't mean to offend you or correct your views (as I hoped to make clear by saying I didn't mean to jump on you).
This entire sycophancy-issue is becoming a bit ridiculous. It's becoming more and more meaningless. Someone has brought it up and now it's used as a kind of magic word to slag off anyone who doesn't exactly share the opinion of other fans who express views (on no matter what subject) that are not in Bri's favour. The word is really being flogged to death this way.
And I don't have anything to do with it. I don't even visit his website very often.
Seriously, there's little chance the hairy one is gonna read this, so how can I be sycophantic ?
I just say what I think, so do you. However, wouldn't it be boring if we'd all just state our opinions in a sort of vacuum without commenting on each other's posts ? It's a discussion forum after all, so let's discuss. In fact, I'm glad to hear your opinion about it, as I'm quite into guitar-playing. I'd be delighted if you let me know exactly why you think that his complex rhythmical qualities are subpar. You may be even right. I'd be the first to admit you are.
I really don't want you to think that I didn't respect your views, cause I certainly do.
If it's the second time that I tend to disagree, then that is purely coincidental and hasn't got anything to do with you personally as a zoner.

Very well done. Subconciously putting a Queen song in there. heh :)
John was originally a guitarist, correct? So I would imagine he'd keep some of the fundamental techniques of electric guitar playing. Plus his hair gave him special powers all the time, so there!
hair=power?
hair=power?
Staying Power - it's about Brian never cutting his lox o' strength.
Ofcourse it is. Try and analyse the lyrics
See what i've got, i got a hell of a lot
(Brian saying he has lots of hair)
Tell me what you feel, is it real is it real
(Brian asking someone how his hair feels. And then the other person thinks it feels so soft, it just has to be a wig: is it real?)

I know he played the acoustic solo on "who needs you" which surprised me cause he is actually a good soloist!
Don't know about you but I think "Staying Power" live sounded better than the studio version.
