Digital recording has gotten so cheap now. You can get a free tivo-like recorder from your cable or satellite provider in most cases. I use Dish Network and love my recording box.. it holds 100 hours and is super-high quality.
And for permanent storage, Wal Mart now has DVD recorders as low as $224 in stores, even cheaper online. I had one briefly earlier this month to get some saved stuff cleaned off my satellite box.. a cheap Emerson model, but the name wasn't important to me cuz I was just borrowing it. The DVD-R discs play perfectly on my Pioneer player. Haven't tried a DVD + R yet.
They're getting so cheap I might actually buy one to keep someday instead of making 10 discs and then returning it for a made-up reason.

I have the performances downloaded but it's not AMAZING quality... and I'd like to see that whole episode, too.
One newspaper lists this SNL being on at 1:01 AM... DirecTV tells me 3 AM... whaaaat?

I took the one from my site directly from my SNL-DVD. It would disappoint me if you're talking about that version... :-(

Oh no no... it's something that I found that has both the CLTCL and UP performances right after each other. It looks as if someone recorded right up close to the TV because I could see a TV screen around it. Haha...

Well if you're in the Eastern zone, it would be 1 am (or 1:01, whatever NBC). I'm central so it's Midnight... further west it gets tricky. 1 am is actually 11 pm Pacific, but I think they tape-delay stuff to make it be equal to Eastern time, so it'll probably start at 1 am Pacific, but that'll be the delay and it'll actually be 3 am Eastern.
Don't even ask me about Mountain time. This shit is confusing enough. :-P
I wonder if they rechanneled the sound for the DVD set... being 1982, TV was still in mono in the states.

For me, it says tonight's SNL (starting at 11) has Simon Cowell on it. And then after, it's Showtime At The Apollo. Any idea if the SNL with Queen on it will be on instead?

For me it says She Spies is on after SNL.
I'll be so mad if its not on where I am.

That blows. I guess some local affiliates might not carry the whole NBC schedule. This late night 'All Night' thing is fairly recent I think. During the week they also show reruns of The Tonight Show and Conan O'brian in the wee hours.
The shows you guys mentioned are syndicated, so your locals are putting them on in place of NBC stuff. It happens :(
We used to get local sports stuff all the time in place of network programs and it made me furious. Now I get locals from Kansas City and they seem to respect their networks a little more.

Over here it is ER that was on after SNL. I was so excited to see Queen on SNL. I hate it when the websites lie. When it is a national one, it should do it all over not just if the affiliate wants to or not.

I watched the show tonight (thanks for the heads up.)
I'm astonished as to how AWFUL that SNL cast was. The ONLY reason to watch it was for Queen.

I agree about the cast, except Eddie Murphy.. and it's easy to see why he left when he did.
This was the first time I'd seen this performance of Under Pressure in full. Both performances were okay.. Brian didn't quite get the solo out right on Crazy Little Thing, and one of the clapping sounds was out of sync on Under Pressure, but I'm being trivial :-P
Was cool to see them standing around with the cast at the end too, and with full credits instead of cutting out real fast like they usually do these days.

I haven't been on KaZaa for ages and on the SNL dvd there's only CLTCL. Is Under Pressure available somewhere else (on the Internet)?
(I'm not in the Hub)

Did anyone get it on tape? Here they showed E.R. I'd love a copy...

I didn't get to watch it. I'm kicking myself... of course, I have to live in New Jersey where they showed it at 3AM. I couldn't figure out my VCR because it was being a spaz and I was just too tired to go to sleep and have my alarm wake me up for the episode.
Needless to say, I'm upset. I know I have CLTCL and UP downloaded, but I wanted to see how the whole episode was. And I wanted to see them standing with the cast at the end! Oh well. :'-(

What I found especially interesting when Queen and the cast were standing around at the end, you get to see Freddie and Eddie Murphy hug.
It's interesting because just a few years later, Murphy's infamous "faggot" comedy routines got him into some hot water.
