I think it`s almost sure about that - US by number, UK by percentage, though Japan or the Netherlands would be close.
US has more than 300 million people. If only two percent of them were Queen fans that`d be already more than 100% of New Zealand
India too would be an option. With 1% only they`d already have over ten million fans. Which is way more than in most South American countries

No one in the southern United States will admit they listen to Queen. Down here, people are all right-wing extremists - they don't care if you're talented, they just care if you're a fag. Up in the more enlightened parts of the country it may be different.

Seems to me like in the south a band that carries a racist symbol like Lynard Skynard gets far more respect than a band that has way much more talent, and has achieved way far more, but has a homosexual lead singer.

Well people still haven't grown up... I'm from Romania and I dare say that there aren't so many Queen fans out here, though their music is appreciated better than Led Zepp or AC/DC by most of the population. But... I've still got some unpleasant surprises, many people dislike Queen because Freddie was gay. And a month ago one of the TV channels broadcasted the WWRY Live in Montreal and there was a short introduction whose main idea was that "when most people hear the name Queen, they automatically think at homosexuality, drugs, AIDS..." Arrrgh!!! I wanted to kill them!
But the nice part is that Queen is really appreciated by the older generations (e.g. my grandmother liked them a lot), because they have good music...

Oops, forgot to write it before: is it true that they are illegal in China? Why?

The south put everyone to shame for the abc contest at Breakthru 04 in Cleveland. The two finalists were from Tennessee and Alabama. After Brandon won that competition he said (and I am paraphrasing)
"Never let it be said that the south doesn't like Queen."

USA, because of the population, of course. But when it comes to "density" or "passion", it would be UK, Japan, Germany or Holland. Maybe a bit Italy and Spain.

If you look at the total population and the fans, The Netherlands will be a good competitor.

Everything that is not from their own government is illegal in China. I guess it won't be broadcasted by the radio stations, and also internet is not allowed. So hard to listen to their music, and therewith gain fans ;)

Density is very big in the biggest cities of Japan. However, there`s a very very very big part of the population (the one in villages and rural spaces) that doesn`t have the slightest idea of rock music or any Western related thing

Netherlands, Germany and Japan are all huge Queen supporters. Japan moreso because of all the attention they paid them early in their career. The reception there was fantastic, almost like when The Beatles first appeared there at Budokan! The screaming fans, the gifts, the signs, the merchandise...
Queen made an impact wherever they appeared, and that's saying a lot!

Geeks and Mr Jingles, you hit the nail on the head. I live in Tennessee and Queen were never really received well in this area. They only came to Tennessee twice (Memphis and Nashville), but I never minded driving to other cities to see them in concert, and few were south of my state, the majority were in the north and northeast.
You should have heard the furor when the IWTBF video debuted -- so many hateful things. Most Southerners don't get British humour and that's so stereotypical. A lot back then went for Lynyrd Skynyrd, 38 Special, Black Oak Arkansas and Molly Hatchet. I never liked Southern rock, it IS racist and the subject matter of the songs is usually banal. And some to this day think the Union Jack is the Confederate flag!!

i´m from argentina...
I can´t say that Argentina is the country that has more queen fans, beacuse i didnt count them, jaja, but in fact, there is a lot of fans here
The best sellers bands (in argentina) are (in order of sales): 1-The Beatles
2-Queen
I think that Argentina and Brazil, are the countrys with more Queen Fans in Sudamerica
