1) About QUEEN: THE eYe. Yes, the book which cames with the CD-ROM, titled THE ART OF QUEEN: THE eYe, is a different release than the game itself. This book has different EU and US releases, both readily available and cheap (under 10 USD). The game is harder to get in good condition as its box tends to bend and deteriorate on the stores; the JP issue has a very nice box with an obi strip. There is also a pocket book called THE NOVEL OF QUEEN: THE EYE, which is not very interesting unless you are a big fan of the game. The book with hints to win it, called SECRETS OF QUEEN: THE EYE, was withdrawn, but I guess it got printed and some copies might have surfaced. I have also a promo video EPK with an exclusive video of Death On Two Legs.
2) In addition to the already mentioned releases, the official JP DVD issued recently should not be forgotten. I have not received it yet, but I am not satisfied with the sound in the BR DVD.

I know! I just got into LaserDiscs, and I have to say that, while it's not AS good as DVD's (or at least the one's I've seen so far), it's certainly a very good and very interesting video format.
Kinda wish I had a better LD player though; my player won't switch between sides on CLV discs anymore, but it will on CAV discs, which is odd. Also, mine didn't come with a remote and so also doesn't have any ways of skipping between chapters, which pisses me off cos if I want to go to a scene that is in the middle of or near the end of the disc, I have to hold the fast forward/rewind jog to fast forward until I get to the scene, which takes a bit.
But the nice thing about LD's is that, yes, you can transfer them to DVD and usually not have to worry about Macrovision.
Oh, you're lucky to have a newer player! My two are second-and-third-generation Pioneers. I can't play any newer, THX-encoded discs because the players don't have that technology, all I get is high-pitched static! I've got a special edition of Amadeus that I can't even watch, except my dad has one like yours so I can watch it on his, and he's got his home theatre split between the laserdisc and DVD players (which is nice -- I might try that, I need a switch box!) and it sounds fantastic. The Queen discs are almost thunderous on a home theatre (you should hear the Wembley discs, the sound blows the DVD away literally!!).
I bought a Queen Karaoke Flix from a chap in Brazil and it was a burn off the laserdiscs, VERY good transfer! I will compare the Japanese DVD when they arrive later this month!
And Ebay sells those players cheap. Funny, Dad's model cost $850 new eight years ago!
