Great. I was hoping that it would be.

At least one part of the DVD (sound wise) has been re-recorded as Paul McCartney has gone into the studio to redo his vocals for Let It Be - the song used for the finale of the UK concert. In the original broadcast his mic cut out during the song.
I personally think they should leave it as is (the whole concert that is).

So OK... sure Phil Collins is not Bonham, yet I've seen clips of the performance which although not as good as expected, yet it wasn't absolutely awful. Everyone has their own opinion.
The importance of this Live Aid DVD set is that this is for charity. Hunger in Africa is still far from over, so each performance (especially from a legendary band like Led Zeppelin counts). We know for sure that lots of Led Zep fans won't buy the Live Aid DVD if their performance is not inlcluded.
What I don't understand is why Led Zep wouldn't allow their peformance to be included, but yet Jimmy Page doesn't mind allowing Sean Puffy Combs to take a classic song like 'Kashmir' and totally rip it apart by making an awful rap version of it.

This is a similar sad outcome to the freddie pre concert performances. they werent allowed to include those on freddies dvd either. copywrite sometimes makes me really really sad.
Led Zep are now donating a part of the royalties from their upcoming 'Unleaded' DVD to the Live Aid trust as a respectful comprimise.
What's your source?
I read in an official publication that the concert will be released FULL and UNEDITED, so I think this is just gossip.

Maybe McCartney will also dub in his lovely deceased wife performing some background vocals:

Led Zep isn't mentioned at all on that page and is notably absent from the extensive artists list.

I didn't think artists would be allowed to refuse. The concert was for charity and that's that. But someone has to be a spoil sport. Their still the second best thing ever though.
The part of Led Zeppelin can easily be found on the Internet. I've downloaded it and I must say that Robert Plant has aged a lot in 7 years (comparing that performance with the Freddie Tribute)!
Robert's performance isn't bad at all.

The full thing. So both UK and US and COMPLETE.
Youre wrong. Led Zep will NOT be included on the DVD.
Hopefully everyone has become aware of rights problems by now and there will be no more nonsense like this in the future.
Rights should always be obtained in a package deal now that includes broadcast, rebroadcast, audio and video releases... and the same goes for all these movie and TV shows which are having to replace music because they can't get DVD rights. It's complete bullshit.

On Geldof's site, it says that it "includes"... which means they can't list every single artist there. That's how I look at it, at least.
Led Zeppelin will not allow their performance to be used, stating that the three remaining members (Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones) all agreed that the performance was sub-par.
However, Page and Plant are going to send proceeds from sales of their own upcoming Page/Plant DVD to the Live Aid Charity, and Jones is also sending proceeds from his upcoming solo tour to the Charity
The article I read also mentioned that Elton John has also refused to let his set be used on the DVD, although the article says that neither Elton nor his reps would give a reason why....
if accurate, that's a shame about Elton's withdrawal....maybe Elton didn't want his appearance to be shown because they will be used in the Best Buy dvd.
