I stumbled across a version of 'it's late' that I was told was from this session. It certainly sounds like the same version, except the file I have has an audience-track added and is of almost pristine quality (no hiss what so-ever...full range of audio).

Is that the same show? Is this '77 session out there being sourced from different masters (old taped radio broadcast vs. something better?) Were there multiple radio casts of this show?

I think somebody used the recording and then added fake audience to the background and then passed it off as a new bootleg...

I think I get it now...this would have been the original file, later with an audience track added, right?

Regardless, they seemed to have done a fairly amazing job at fixing the sound on this track.

(Please don't spread the above link around too much...it's on my poor server in the basement that can't take much of a load. ;o)

Listen to it - theres no audience during most of the song! In all honesty, the track before it was probably live and they wanted to run it into this studio live recording (if you see what I mean!) rather than the crowd stop suddenly...

I agree...I'm mostly just curious as to where this file came from, and if there are any more like it.

The whole BBC session no. 6 has been dubbed with audience-noise. I believe it was for a US radio-show called "King Biscuit Hour" - they also officially released a compilation a few years back with the full WWRY slow/fast version on it (with audience sounds though). These fake live-tracks are mostly labeled as a late 1977 NOTW-USA tour concert.

I know that WWRY was featured on the King Biscuit Flower Hour (a radio program in the US that featured live recordings of popular acts of the day), but this is the first time I had heard that the entire session was played.

Aha! So perhaps the MP3 I found is from a King Biscuit Flower Hour broadcast.
