Studying Music

The better the music, the worse it is for me to study while listening to it.
That's because whenever I hear I good song I try to concentrate only on listening and enjoying the song... rather than just studying.

So give me Ashlee Simpson anytime I have to study.

When studying I usually listen to Queen, Jet, Van Halen, Brand New and Muse. If I don't feel like ever listening to them, i'll put on the radio.

I love listening to music when I write, but it's mostly whatever Queen instrumentals I can find and some slower ballads. But I like Mr.Jingles79's idea about listening to crappy music. I would try that, if I could stand more than five minutes of it.

It's best to listen to the long, drawn out songs. Songs that are good, but that you don't have to really concentrate to take in all the goodness. For example:

Good song - "Kashmir"
Bad song - "Killer Queen"

Not even necessarily long and drawn out, but with a sort of "background" feel to it, as many classical numbers as you have mentioned (although they do tend to be long and drawn out).

I always listen to classic music when I read. I rarely ever study as I'm not very good at focusing.

What exactly are you studying? Sheep herding? h0h0!
