can anyone tell me whether CD2 has the full or slightly edited version of UP and whether CD3 has the 93 hit single mix of LOMO
Under Pressure is still stupidly edited. Basically only 4 songs changed for the remaster.. A Kind Of Magic, Radio Ga Ga, Innuendo and The Miracle are now full-length rather than fading a few seconds early. The actual edited tracks and single mixes haven't been replaced though. seriously everyone take a deep breath, you should all be glad that Hollywood still cares enough about Queen to re-release anything, Or that Queen Productions hasn't licensed out the songs to make even more shitty greatest hits albums (do you know how many other classic rock artists greatest hits albums there are that you can buy in truck stops on some label like "digital age" or some shit like that???)
"Queen" as it were haven't recorded anything new in years, and although YES lots of material exists in the archives, we all have to admit that NO it's not all goin to be released anytime soon, and even when it is you'll probably find somethign else to complain about like "oh we got ripped off they didn't include the 5th demo vocals bass only version of radio gaga where you can hear 1 piano note being played at the beginning" or something like that. Seriously you should all be glad Hollywood still believes Queen can make them money, because if they didn't they wouldn't have 3 different greatest hits packages on the shelves right now, would they?
The Greatest Hits package is simply to promote the musical, hell, Van Halen released a new CD comp. when they started touring again, and didn't Rush release a cover song EP for their new tour (And If I remember the tour was announced first becasue my dad is a huge Rush fan and told me the tour was for their anniversary or something NOT to promote the EP!!!)
blah blah blah, if you don't like it don't buy it it's that simple, but don't look a gift horse in the mouth, I only started listening to Queen around the time Made In Heaven came out, and listened to Greatest Hits the first time when I was 9, almost 10 years ago!!! and I'm suprised at the longevity Hollywood records has been able to get out of a band who hasn't had a new recording since I started listening to them.
You all have probably been fans longer than I, but I've been there for all the comps, greatest hits, classic queen, rocks, greatest hits 3 (which I actually liked because introduced me to the solo material), and platinum collection. But I also have almost every album in every format it was made and all the solo albums, and all I can say is I like having a nice shiny new relase in my hands, even though it only has a few tracks I haven't heard before I'm glad there's new relases on the shelves becasue that means people stilll like Queen and will still spend money on them.
Well said, VGB! After spending $30 a pop on card sleeves, it's kinda refreshing to get a rather nice new version of something for only $11.99 (now 13.99 I believe).
This is stupid and hardly matters, but I made a mistake initially. The DVD is not PCM, it's Dolby Digital 2.0. Silly me, I had my player set to downmix to PCM so I got the wrong display on my receiver. Oops :-P
Actually this could account for my saying the sound was so good.. I've discovered that, at least on my player, having it downmix to PCM before going into the receiver seems to improve the sound of 2.0 stuff, makes it seem more CD like.
