"...Sorry..." A shy voice from behind:
I don't think that it's a matter of being a newbie rather than having spent half of the lifetime in this forum... I think there is something inside one person's mind which can work or not... I mean: I'm a so-called newbie because I didn't know this site before and I joined just one week ago... But I don't have much to ask about Queen, their private life, their sexual tastes and so on... It doesn't matter to me but, in any case, I'd try to get information I need from other sources without bothering people...
On the other side, even deities may launch stupid topics... It's a matter of what you have inside your head, and not of how expert you are about this forum working...
Excuse me for the violence I made on English language...
Hope to hear from you all

But some of the newbies who actually posted some ridiculous threads don't want to hear any point like that- they think that everyon ehere really gives a toss about those deities/bohemians/whatevers crap... They were bashed so they assume- it's obviously because I'm a newbie... That's called rationalization... It's easier to say "they think if they have 2000 posts they know everything and they're just pickin' on me" than to look at themselves and say "maybe I did posted sth stupid..."
Mind you- same goes for older ones- some of the ppl really think that by having "magic" 1000 they're becoming Mr Know All... The most ridiculous thing I've read (twice) was someon esaying that if he posts 200-300 messages, he'll not be a newbie anymore and ppl will not be mean to him... Whoever wrote it- wake up, man! If it's going to be stupid, you're going to have exactly the same response...

I'm a prime example. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee-haw!
I have been coming to Queenzone since November of 1997, when it used to be Richards Queen Page. And there are a few that have been here longer than me. I am not yet a deity. The amount of posts you have has nothing to do with how long you've been here or how much you know about Queen. I've seen people register here...and a month later have 1000+ posts, and there are others who have been here for years and don't even have 1000. Try not to get caught up in the Old vs New, or post counts, and just enjoy learning about Queen and meeting new friends.
:-)

Yes, everyone of you seems to have caught the point (I had no doubts about that, anyway... Since I have been posting here no-one has ever been unkind with me)... There is no need to smash your head to pick up a winner: in such idiot matters no-one wins (what am I saying? Believe me, I'm not a priest or something...) and, as Janet said, try to make your experience on this forum as enjoyable as possible for yourself and for all the others.
There is something more more more interesting to understand about Queen than how, why and who was Freddie's partner on that particular night, isn't it?
About my short time here, I only hope to enjoy sharing opinions with other people and, maybe, to find some great friend on these pages as it already happened (and still keeps happening) in my 'real' life...
... What about improving my English a little bit?
Ciao to everyone... Hope to hear from you soon!!!

Wonderfully put Janet, totally agree :)
I've been here 3 - 4 years, and clocked nowhere near a thousand posts, simply because I do not have that much to say.
Yet I have seen "newbies" acquire 1000 posts in as little as four weeks, and the funny thing is that they had little to say also!

I agree. I'm one of those thats been around this site for years and still have a relatively low count. Not that I'm bothered tho, as I couldnt give a toss about post counts.
Dave
You all have to admit that newbies with a low post count are much more susceptible to harrassment due to their newbie status. I've seen my fair share of stupid, dumbassed posts from people who have either been here for a long time or who have a high post count, and often they not only are left unharrassed, but also receive accolades for their sheer ridiculousness.
I think I've already made it (too) plain with an older topic of my own that I agree the # of posts signifies nothing, and I only mention this to say I agree with nearly every word of all the preceding posts.
But if a "favorite song" topic offends "one" so very much that bile begins to flow, isn't that a sign that "one" is pretty much Queenzoned out? I mean, doesn't it seem natural that "one" should participate fully for awhile & then, oh, I don't know, naturally grow tired of it and then (here's the key part) MOVE ON?
I really, truly think just about anyone can "grow out" of the discussion topics as a whole (not the music, tho'). To be disinterested in common topics is completely understandable. Don't respond, don't even read, is my advice, it'll do your blood pressure wonders! But for so many to be irked or offended by them is really confusing to me, especially when the next step is to test the mettle of the Newbie by posting a scathing response. We're all so very CLEVER when we do so, aren't WE.
So I say: "If it seems stupid to you, take a look in the mirror and admit that you've grown out of it! Why not bugger off? Take a pottery class or rededicate yourself to the oboe, or spelunking or something... Don't forget to write!" (on second thought... hmmm...)
I can certainly understand any Queen fan wanting to keep abreast of all the News stuff posted here, but the News has got a whole other dedicated message board by itself, hasn't it?

I might post stupid topics, but the thing that matters to me is that we all are - at least I think - Queen fans, not of discord...
Don't pay attention to the unkindness of certain answers: for what I know, no-one is an asshole here... It's simply their way to be nice ;=)
All a newbie have to do is to resist to the compulsion to post topics related to the favourite album-song-band member or to ask for information which can be easily found across the net...
... In the end, I think, we are all the same: Queen fans... Everyone lives his queen-ness in a different way!!!

There seems to be more than one meaning of the word "newbie", which creates a serious misunderstanding.
1) Someone with a low post count.
2) Someone who has just recently discovered this site, or who hasn't been posting for a long period of time.
3) Someone who posts really stupid things.
I think that when a lot of the more mean-spirited people complain about "newbies", they are referring to the third definition. Unfortunately, this makes all of the newbies feel targeted. I don't know what my point is with this, but it's something to think about.

I'm a newbie :D
Yeah, Goo, have to be with you once more...
... It is something more like "newbies to life" than effectively "newbie to this forum" !!! :)
Ciao
