I used to love that free government cheese. Velveeta just isn't as good.

Which brings me to the point that Americans, like everyone else in the world, are only humans. It's the Jesus theory - when you've been told all your life that you are God, you might start to believe it. Americans are in this very situation - we are raised to believe that we are superior to everyone else, because we live in a country that has freedoms that no other nation in the world except Canada, England, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Japan, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Australia, Luxemborg, and other nations that I forgot has.

Naturally, other people don't like this. So when we make it clear that we are human, make a bonehead move, and fall flat on our faces, they laugh really really hard at us - haha, not so superior after all, are you?

Now, let's not do that anymore, okay? We should all sit back, remember that the people in all nations are only human, and watch as the raccoons develop faster-than-light travel.

I looked back on this one, and it's a great post. You've got a better head on your shoulders than most adults I know.

He says that he has created jobs? Really. What he is telling you is when someone goes off unemployment, they are added to the 'working' group again. That isn't true. The benifits run out. That doesn't create anything.

Well, jobs have been created... but we must ask, what kind of jobs?

Yeah, it's pretty sad. Michael Moore is right on the money when he refers to the scare tactics.

Well..officially, the unemployment rate is 5.4% or 5.6%. The same as in 1996. The economy isn't as crappy as those politicans like to say it is to get your vote. By the way, a president can't directly control the economy. I don't know why it's always an issue. They could only control it slightly with tax cuts or tax increases. That's statistically proven.

The economy is a living thing. It has mood swings. You can't predict where it's going to go. The economy has to be up and down to create a balance. Jobs are lost and gained. This is true for the whole world. I'm sorry you lost your job but, you're not the only one. I'm sure things will get better and you will get another one. Good luck.

I'm an American. I'm sorry you lost your job, but see I don't know you and didn't have any idea that your company fired many people.

The actions of a few do not represent the whole. I don't think you should be saying you hate Anericans. Frankly it's rude, and what if I insulted your country because of something a few people did to me? Be careful what you write.

Using 'Michael Moore' and 'right on the money' in the same sentence is sort of an oxymoron, don't you think?

You have a very good point.

Bush re-elected! Now that's even a bigger oxymoron.

I like Moore. Here in Canada we love him. Except for those bastard conservatives.

I like contorted propaganda too.

On the news it seems as if Bush is favoured by a few percent in this coming election - and I hope that is NOT the choice that the Americans (or some of them) make.

He's a good chance, I believe. Except for that hair cut. No one likes it.

...though Moore doesn't cortort things too much...in fact F9/11 has very little that the right has been able to refute.

I don't always think his method is the best approach, but I think he's certainly matured with F9/11 sticking more to a single message (though it's still a rather broad film) and, for the better IMHO, spending less time on the 'crash the gates with a camera' methodology.

As for BFC, there's plenty to debate there, though, again, there's less contortion than exclusion.

I do agree that many Americans - myself included - have grown up/are growing up with a kind of understood idea of superiority over much of the rest of the world, and it really is a shame. I am deeply sorry for my own complete lack of interest in world and international events in the past, and am actually very busy trying to rectify that now.
However, that in no way allows for a blind and rather ignorant hatred, if you ask me. Jasen, haven't you noticed that by approaching this entire topic the way you have, for the most part all you've accomplished is to make virtually everyone extremely defensive? It doesn't really matter what your original point was now, because you've offended so many people by generalizing us and lumping us all together without cause. I'm sorry you lost your job - but my dad lost his own job after working with his company for seventeen years and had to start all over. Now he's going into his second year as a teacher, after spending a year and a half looking for work. So, you aren't alone; even Americans have problems.
And I'm glad you have a new job.
