Freddie had some incredible rock potential. I think that was because he had such a powerful voice and he could have done so much more in hard rock. He has one of those versatile voices though that can do anything.

"Freddie was a lot into heavy metal, he loved Led Zeppelin, as his former bandmates recalled. Moreover he started his songwriting career as a heavy metal / hard rock composer (Great King Rat, Liar, Ogre Battle), before expanding his style to piano ballads, progressive/art rock, musichall influences, etc.

I really don't understand why so many people think Axl is a good singer - including Brian
I know Brian is called the nice guy in rock 'n roll, but saying that Axl is a good singer is just being way too nice.
He ruined great songs like Knocking on Heavens Door and even our beloved Bohemian Rhapsody with his horny cat-like vocals. Just terrible
And Slash, He's so damn overrated. Noway he's even close to Brian.
I agree Slash technical skills and speed are better and faster than Brian. But speed and skill isn't the only thing that makes you a good guitarist. Brian's solos always fit in the song very well, Even when he's playing on a song as a guest appearance. And Slash's solos sound like nothing, they have NOTHING, or atleast not much to do with the actual song.
And no i'm not a guns 'n roses basher. I like them

Oh yeah freddie definetly had a hard rock voice. Thats why Vh1 said queen was # 13 it the greatest hard rock bands of all time. And queen was really kick ass

About Freddie into Metallica or ACDC - Stone Cold Crazy sounds very Metallica-esque, and that was a song of Wreckage so he must have written it (although the arrangement should be by all of them); also the drums of Ogre Battle sound a little Metalicca-esque (yes they don`t have the double kick, but other "little" details are kind of similar imo); and Hitman is also somehow Metallica-esque. Anyway, GnR is more a hard rock band than a heavy metal band, for those time standards, again imo.
About Slash - Yes he has better technique and speed than Brian, and yes technique and speed aren`t everything, but imo in this case the difference is enough to tell Slash is better (imo). Brian had the luck of being in an older band, who subsequently is more often classified as superband, which makes him to be a "superguitarist", and as I said other times, I do find Brian overrated in some aspects of his playing, and very unfairly underrated in others.

I'm with you BrianRules... GnR were a great hard rock band but they can't be put on the same shelf as Queen: it's a swear... Even if I'm a rational fan rather than a very protective one (getting older?), so I don't start by putting Queen above all the other bands, I believe that there can be no comparison between these two...
Anyway it is just my humble opinion...
