I'd have given my right arm to learn British and American history at school. Unfortunately here they see no reason to teach us these things, because of course they have no relevance to us so we got stuck with the 150 years or so if New Zealand history that exists.
Actually that's not entirely fair, they did try and teach us about Palestine and Ireland for, like, two weeks each.

I had to take World History my sophomore year and US History my Junior year. They were both boring and I never paid attention. I actually fell asleep a lot in that class and they have pictures in the year book to prove it.

Here's a brief history according to what I remember in HS:

So, like, King George is being an ass and stuff. So we're all like, "Forget you, we're forming our own country". Then King George is all like, "WTF?? You can't do that!" And we're all like, "Yeah we can. One if by land. Two if by sea". Yadda Yadda Yadda...Constitution gets written, Washington and Jefferson have children with their slaves (*gasp* SCANDAL!) Yadda Yadda Yadda...more war and we get pissed with each other so we fight each other. Yadda, Yadda, Yadda...we drink ourselves silly in the 20's, cry during the 30's...more war...FDR, A-Bomb. Yadda, Yadda, Yadda...Stones, Beatles, Beach Boys, et al. do their thing...blah blah blah...

I learned how we fought the Red Coats in the American revolution. LOL... Not much, we learned how America came about and pretty much all the problems we had till now. Times of peace dont really get taught in History class, kinda funny.

This year i think its world history. Its about time!

I went through highschool in the 1990 era. At that time, we were still taught a very euro, white-male-centric history. We didn't study history so much as we simply learned a few facts here and there.

Oh, somebody finally decided to write a book on my history grades.

I did go through the American public school system, but quite frankly, I don't care what lies I was taught about history, the lamest waste of a subject ever (no quantity of &quot;Importance of History&quot; essays assigned by your history teacher will change this).

Actually I did quite well, because I just do well, I guess.
