i don't think they're gonna realise the 100 best queen concert to download because it would take a lot of time to edit the recordings and i don't think they'd do it for free downloads.for sure the 'new' recordingds would sound better than the current bootlegs but i don't think that they put them online without working on them and for free

it wouldn't be innovative... Dream Theater released so called "ORIGINAL BOOTLEGS"- you pay $10 or sth and you get live recording, with nice P/S and everything... I wouldn't mind this happening...

Fenderek, this is slightly incorrect. People are keeping rare recordings to be able to trade them for other rare recordings. If all live recordings are released by Queen in some form, there's nothing rare left and everybody gets whatever he wants. That would be a paradise for everybody, no matter if he's a newbie or an experienced trader.
Maybe they do it in a similart way to the Pearl Jam shows a couple of years ago?
Just soundboard recordings, nothing more, nothing less. Unfortunately Pearl Jam charged some 20 euro's for a double CD. So that would come down to lets say 2000 euro's. Maybe if you buy 25, you get one for free. Allthough....it still is Queen Productions..... So, start saving allready

I do understand that no-one is going to trade full Houston'77 video for audio of Hammersmith'75- fine, no probs :) BUT- it does seem that SOME recordings are absolutely unobtainable, that maybe other fans would also love to see full Houston... Some ppl were lucky to obtain certain shows and... It's no tabout having them all- I can live without ever hearing som etotally obscure recording that is high on the established collectors list- I really can live with that... But when it gets to sth like Houston... I don;t know- just seems like that certain recordings or even information (sic!!!!) is strictly guarded, which I'm actually against...
And it wouldn't be totally paradise for everyone anyway, 'cause those things wouldn't be for free, would they? It would be perfectly soimple than- when someone is downloading it fromn som eother source- that's theft, you can get it officially... There are drawbacks- I can see it, but this would make a lot good as well....
I don't understand why bootleggers have such a bad name here. Bootleggers record live shows and without their effort we would not have anything to share or trade. They should not be mixed up with sellers of bootlegs who never recorded something themselves but only make a profit from selling the recordings. Of course, bootlegging is illegal but I don't hear any outcries about the sharing of bootlegs in the hub and on the QZ BitTorrent project here. We all want as much material of our favourite band as possible, so there is no reason to regard bootlegging itself as something despicable. That's the position of the record industry.

to the queen collectors:what do you think about the value of your silver rare live stuff if queen realise their live concerts officially?i think that you (like me) have spent a lot of time and money to search for and buy bootlegs and rare live stuff so if queen realise their live shows officially your collection value will be totally lost.i think that collectionism is a game that will lose its fun when queen realise their live shows because there will be a little rare stuff that will be unavalible to all the fans about and because a lot of people will rip-off their collection that will lost its value for sure.
I'm very unhappy when i think to my collection after the legal downloading of the concerts because i worked hard to find all its items(silver bootelgs and cds and internet stuff) and now a lot of non-fans people can buy the same stuff that i have and bring down my collection

IMO this is great, because the concerts will be available for everyone. Every Queen fan should have acces to the shows, not a small group. I hope downloadable files will be either in MP3 360kB/s or FLAC.

i think that the small group who has rare stuff are fans that don't want that their collection lost its value because a lot of people that like queen but ther AREN'T fans can buy the same stuff. sincerely i'm agree with the small group of poeple that are against the official download or realise of the queen concerts

There are some items that I'm unable to get because I can't offer anything rare in exchange. So what... it's less than 1% of what's widely available. It's not a matter of life or death.

Andrew, I don't understand your point of view. In which way is your collection worth any less when other fans own the same recordings? You don't collect original paintings or rare coin, you collect recordings which are easily copied by the thousands. There is nothing unique in your collection unless you are the only one who recorded a specific concert and never copied your recording. Anything else is not unique or original.
If all concerts were downloadable from QOL, this would be a great opportunity. It's only the quality/price issue that is still very unclear.

Just because I don't have boots, right? Man- I paid massive amount of money for 7", 12" and some promos- reall ya lot; I would love to have acces to boots as well- be able to obtain them, why not buy them; why the hell not? If they'll release the stuff I'll be happiest man on earth- and what value are you talking about? are you selling them or sth? You can talk about value when you collect vinyls or stamps or anything, but with boots...? I'm trying to get some bootlegs to be a ble to listen to this music- that's the fucking value of it...

Once a concert has been digitally copied once - it can also be re-copied.
Therefore, I need only purchase one or two concerts, then, start trading for copies of those concerts I don't!
Pretty soon, everyone will be back at square one, freely sharing new versions of previously available concerts.

Yes, John, but wouldn't that same argument apply to normal Queen CDs? Handling distribution through the website will cut out some costs.
The fact is people will buy it because it is from Queen and not some bootlegger. GH3 proved that mentality.
Only problem I see is that some collectors will have little incentive to buy these recordings if they are in inferior quality or mp3/wma.

They are offering all the shows on the recent tour in both mp3 and flac quality, mixed and mastered straight from the soundboards and are ready for download within 2 or 3 days. All Queen need to do is go back to the original soundboard recordings they have for each show, and replace the audience recording bootlegs that exist in that form.
