All Queen need to do is go back to the original soundboard recordings they have for each show, and replace the audience recording bootlegs that exist in that form.
Or better than that, release soundboard recordings of unbootlegged shows. That would keep casual fans and long-time collectors happy.
Right- I was collecting vinyls for five years; going with your logic- I'm not fan, I just like Queen... Just because I don't have boots, right? Man- I paid massive amount of money for 7", 12" and some promos- reall ya lot; I would love to have acces to boots as well- be able to obtain them, why not buy them; why the hell not? If they'll release the stuff I'll be happiest man on earth- and what value are you talking about? are you selling them or sth? You can talk about value when you collect vinyls or stamps or anything, but with boots...? I'm trying to get some bootlegs to be a ble to listen to this music- that's the fucking value of it...
there are a lot of people that collect original bootlegs instead of vinyls and stamps (for example zoom, the osaka '76 bootleg) and these bootleg are rare stuff that have much value, what would an owner of zoom lp think when his recording is downloadable on internet for a very few money compared to the price that he had to pay to buy the lp?oviously i tell that only if the queenonline downloads and the box set will be considered official realises like the albums

Just because the plan is phrased as "releasing the bootlegs" doesn't mean that they're going to buy up dodgy old half recorded shows like Cologne 79 and just "release" what's already out there.
As Darren said, wouldn't it be more likely that the intention will be to release the QP soundboard equivalent of the top 100 bootlegged shows?
And as a long-time collector of live material, official releases don't worry me at all - I don't collect for exclusivity or some sort of trading high ground (in fact, I think that, as Mr Scully said, most concerts are freely available anyway - it's the obscure studio recordings that are the gold dust only available to a handful). I'd be more than happy to get decent sounding, complete Queen concerts to replace my variable sounding, sometimes incomplete copies.
Cos they were quite good live and I'd rather listen to Freddie sing these songs than a bunch of actors, chancers and wannabes....
Andrew...collecting digital recordings of bootlegs is perhaps the lousiest investment you could make. Collect for the joy, but if you're trying to generate value in burned CDs, there just really isn't any there.
Andrew, I don't get your point - original bootlegs have the same value the whole time, that doesn't change (or they get more expensive every year). How much did the rare Zoom LP cost 20 years ago when there were no CD-R's? How much did it cost 10 years ago when it appeared on CD-R for the first time? How much does it cost now when you have Kazaa's and torrents? How much will it cost in 5 years when maybe every single bootleg will be available for download?
People who collect original bootlegs usually don't care about the concert itself (or they're stupid if they buy expensive CD's to hear just the recording), they care about the bootleg release, "limited edition", artwork etc. They won't stop collecting or buying just because it's available on the Internet.
ok, it's right is for the internet stuff, but if they'll realise those concerts officially in a box set the bootlegs that we have will become like the one called 'who wants to live forever' and like all the bootlegs that are recordings of official realises.

I agree with you. Collection is about getting rare stuff and the joy of getting new recordings etc. I bet some of you got rare Queen single releases, while the songs were already available on the CDs. I think it's the same with bootlegs.
Some of you got informed about this release earlier. Do you have anymore details about this unique thing?

Very cool. I hope Queen will do the same thing. Both in MP3 and FLAC (or Flac only). I hope Queen will use some artwork of bootlegs. $12,50 is a goot price per concert.
