That I have no taste by my physics teacher who likes deep purple!
Oh, I forgot some. My friend and I were playing pool, and I was humming aobtd. And she asked, “What are you humming?” And I told her it was Queen. Then she asked, “Isn’t that a GAY band?” So, I told her that only the lead singer was gay.
And my mom got, “Frankie goes to Hollywood” and Queen mixed up. The was very insulting.

I was ostracized (spelling?) though middle school by just about everyone for my love of Queen.
once when my dad was drunk I was taping the SNL special with Queen on and he said something like "we better hurry up the fag is gonna be on", he got weird and testy when he was drank...
I also got a nasty (like full of hatred) look from a high school principal when I was a freshman
You realize how many people (in the US)don't know who Queen are until you tell them what songs they did?
People now are usually like yeah whatever...maybe casue I look scary?

Wow, I have had a lot of offensive remarks about Queen. Let's see, there is always: wasn't that singer guy gay? A classic one is: who the hell is that? My personal favorite is when people tell me I am fucking crazy for listening to them. Of course they are the crazy ones.

All too often. What's worse is having to say "You know, they did 'We Will Rock You'". And then you get an "oh... yeah........them....." What's worse is the fact that you can't tell them that Queen has so much more than just "We Will Rock You". Because they'll never get it and it's a waste of time to try.
GOD! that is so true, i hate having to say 'they did we will rock you" i sigh and huff and puff and drag it out of my mouth and then i get the 'you like them? why?"

The thing is, if I talk to the ones around my age (I'm 19) it's not very likely to be told:
Aaaah...Queen...great band. If I'm lucky they know it's a band. If I talk to older people, they would surely know what's Queen about, and say something like "Aaah...Queen...cool"
I'm from Romania too and I can't realize how most people here can be so ignorant. They prefer, like everywhere, easy-music, which does not need the superior part of your body.

That's so annoying, "Freddie who"? I'm 19 too....anyway, how could they not know the guy.
The worst I've ever gotten wasn't actually from some ignorant dumbass I barely knew, It was one of my closest friends. He's a hard-core Pink Floyd and Tool fan, you know the type. Sometimes he gets a bit cynical about music that he doesn't feel has "substance" (I would call him a psuedo-intelletual wannabe, but hey, he is one of my best friends. Plus, I LOVE Tool and Pink Floyd too, who doesn't?-don't answer that)
So one day he basically infers that the lyrics to wwry and watc are "narsacistic"(sp?) and mean basically nothing, and how could I possibly like that music: ,"I mean We will ROCK you, what is THAT??"
I tried to explain how the songs were written to pump up the crowd @ concerts and give them something to sing along to, how the words really have symbolic meaning, etc. But it sucks that I heve to explain things like that to people. Why do I even bother?
