Seal was good but not stunning. but It would be fair to say he chose a Seal type song to sing...
What about the groups which had their performance before actual Queen`s gig?
I really think that Sael did a great job with WWTLFE. It's I think one of the most difficult Queen songs to perform live, but he did it very well! Together with George Michael and Lisa Stansfield.
But besides the FMT, I also like the WWRY performance of Williams at the 'Live Summer 2003' cd/ dvd. And I would love to hear a live performance of WATC by Robbie and Queen+ (the new guitar solo rocks!)

Hated Slash's solo on TYMD, especially in the bridge -- RUINED it!
Liked Daltrey in IWIA well enough -- but forgot entirely until seeing that again that he flung the mic into his own eye once in the mid 90s.
Hetfield was great for SCC.
Zucchero was a good choice, but the arrangement was rushed.
Cerhone was perfect for HTF, except for some of those ridiculous dance moves of his -- he needs to be tranquilzed.
Thought Stansfield was good, though on IWTBF I always wondered where those female backing vocals came from, since Maggie and Miriam weren't there at the time.
Couldn't stand Michael's ad-libs, particularly on TWTDOOL (ruins the song for me whenever I hear it), but he did well on STL.
Liked Lennox on UP, except for the makeup (WTF??).
Couldn't stand Ian Hunter, but loved All the Young Dudes.

Axl Rose, Lisa Stansfield, Zucchero were the worst??? Naaaa! I'd say Paul Young and of course Robert Plant on Innuendo, he did not even cared to study the vocal line, he went out of tune and started to sing at the wrong time! The only good thing in that song is Brian's guitar and Roger's drumming, and it's sad that such an important and rare live performance of Innuendo was ruined by a great singer just because he did not study it!!!
All the others, Axl Rose, Lisa Stansfield, Zucchero, can be listened without many problems, they can still give you some emotions and some feelings, but the mistakes on Innuendo overcome any attempt of transmitting any emotion or feeling!!!
And Radio Ga Ga sung by Paul Young is a dead song.

I guess Plant`s voice wasn`t warmed up enough (he sang "Innuendo" as the first song as far as I remember) he forgot the first verse though? However I enjoyed his interpretation of this song, maybe bacuse I always considered him (and I still do it) as a great singer.

Lenox & DB. were awful.
But, what about Extreme (the Medley?? They try to do a very good job. I think their performance was very nice.

Actually, I think Gary Glitter or Billy Idol swung it into his eye...I would think that after nearly thirty years of twirling that thing around, he would manage to avoid hitting himself.
Damn mic flinging. I'm surprised nobody aped freddie's half-a-mic-stand gimmick yet. Especially the pirouettes Freddie does.
Axl Rose completely ruined We Will Rock You and a bit of Bohemian Rhapsody. Elton John was the wrong choice for Bohemian Rhapsody. Annie Lennox did a poor take on Under Pressure. Should it have been David Bowie and Brian May?
Annie Lennox was a joke. Watching the rehearsals made me cringe at the sacreligious events (excluding bowie of course)
Yeah, I definetly think Annie Lennox and Axl Rose did a not so good job. Probably because they irritate me anyways.
I bought the tribute concert right after this topic came out. I watched it for the first time the night before last. I was quite impressed with Queen themselves, but not necessarially any of the singers. Granted, there were some good ones. George Michael tore up "Somebody To Love". Seal certainly got the meaning of "Who Want To Live Forever" and sang it in an appropriate tone (unlike George and Lisa on "These Are The Days Of Our Lives"). You will realize just how important Freddie was to Queen when you hear Paul Young sing "Radio Ga Ga". With that soft, weak voice, he did the best he could, I suppose. I couldn't believe that Brian and the boys had picked him to sing that song, just the same. "Radio Ga Ga" is a song that demands and deserves a powerful anthem-type singer to belt it out. Roger's performance of the same song at the Queen's Party at the Palace a couple years ago sort of reminded me of Paul Young's version -
I suspect that Roger and Brian realized that he Roger didn't have the voice to carry that song to its full potential, so they toned the song down. It was simple instrumentation, no booming rock sound like the version you would find on Wembly 86. Paul Young's version was toned down, as well. Very synthesized. Sucked.
