i've read now this topic and i am totally agree with barbara, it's a very bad thing to see a close freddie's person that speculate of him.Hutton can do what he thinks is right but I think that he is a piece of shit

I am with YV on this one. I think the yellow jacket should be in a museum or something so we can all enjoy it. I am disappointed Jim feels the need to sell it, as it is really what alot identify Freddie with (who are not even real die hard Queen fans) is that yellow jacket. If it were mine, that is one thing I could not part with. But it is his to do with it as he wishes. As for selling the video footage of Freddie in the bath, that made me ashamed and sad to see that, it was something so private, it should never have been shown in public, and I am sure Freddie would have hated that - that "Marilyn Monroe in the bath scene" was not the public image he wanted us to see. It was an embaressment for Queen fans, and an insult to Freddie to release it.

Ouch. As a fan, I wasn't embarassed to see it. I was glad to see him at ease at home. It was always the problem with Queen that they didn't let people into the group to get to know them more and understand how they worked. The individuals behind the group. Which is probably why I and others love the "One Vision" footage from the studio. Not only do we get to see how they work, but we also see a bit of those individuals.

Interviews don't get close enough because they're very routine and (sometimes) impersonal. After-all, the press have a lot to answer for. For the way they made Queen feel the need to be cautious and more closed.

I love the "one Vision" footage too, it is priceless, but of course Queen were willing to allow the cameras in for that, I don't think Freddie wanted the camera crew in his bathroom singing like Marilyn in a bubble bath? There are some things that should be kept private (and they were PRIVATE home movies afterall). Just coz they are celebs or whatever, dont mean we have a right to all their private moments does it? Next we will see Brian on the loo maybe??????? Nah - I could have done without seeing that Freddie footage, tis too much "kiss and tell" for my liking - there has to be somewhere we draw the line on decency and in the interests of privacy. If Freddie wanted us to see that sort of thing (his private life at home) then he would have been more willing to open the doors to the press, and he was entitled to make that choice. I rather they concentrate on the music and band, rather than the private material. But to each his own...............(to me it has mostly been about the music anyway - that is why I love Queen)

C'mon, it's the memories that last. Why keep a jacket for fifty years? There's nothing wrong about selling it. And what's again the bullshit about "selfish collectors"? If somebody wants to pay 10000 pounds for a jacket (I would never pay even 10% of that but I'm sure there are collectors who collect such clothes), then let him enjoy it! For such a huge amount of money the buyer certainly has the right to "selfishly keep it".

Jim isn't doing anything bad when he sells a jacket. He however did a VERY bad thing when he lent (or sold?) the private (bathroom) footage to Channel 4, that was a disaster and Freddie would kill him if he was alive today.

Two points of view:

IMPERSONAL
It's good that the jacket will be sold. It's one of the most important item of the rock music, a real Freddie's trademark! (Many people know Freddie being with moustache, yellow jacket and fist in the sky).
What I think would be right is that some "museum" or "hard rock cafe" bought the item; I will dispatch the news to some of these kind of activities, in the hope they run to get it. Fans and people all around the world HAVE to get access to such a memorabilia.
Some comparisons I read about here, between Freddie's only yellow jacket and some rare recordings are purely c*ap... they have nothing to do one with each other.

PERSONAL
I don't like and share the will of Jim Hutton. I don't think the release of the book has been fair (though I shouldn't complain, since through the book I knew more things about my personal hero), I don't think the selling of the Freddie's signed items has been fair, the leaking of Freddie's private videos totally shameful... And now the jacket. I really hope Jim Hutton is not so in need of money because of health, that would be the only reason I'd understand what he's doing.
