Maybe if there had been a bit more promotion it might have done better, its the only album not to have been released on vynil, and I feel as though its just been thrown out as something to keep the fans happy this year whilst Brian and Roger continue thier trek around the world promoting this poxy musical, I mean, Brian is so wrapped up in the bloody thing tht he didnt even realise that there was no vynil! But, we're all mugs and will still buy it!
By the way, It plays fine in my car, just a standard Ford CD player.

I had the dubious pleasure of seeing the show for the first time last month and i really don't get what all the fuss is about. It's 'ok' adequate,somewhat trite and sadly fairly childish quite frankly.

There is no single release.
Richard: 50000 DVDs were enough for "gold" in Germany. No idea about the UK.
That means by now they probably sold between 50000 and 100000 copies of the DVD in Germany alone. Many of those people would have bought the CD if there was no DVD.

It's hard to buy the CD when the DVD is selling for less in the States.
I'll probably pick up the CD used at some point, just to complete the collection.

I bought the CD and DVD together because they were on special offer, otherwise i would have bought it later. I guess sales will saw soon

There are some programs that let you copy dvd chapters and tracks to mp3. If you use these you practically have the CD along with the DVD. I even got a progam that lets you convert DTS to stereo (it doesn't work with every track though), which sounds quite nice, especially the DVD-As and the GVHs, although you can here that it's meant for more than 2 speakers here and there. It's very useful for people who have some of the dvds but can't enjoy the DTS capability, like me.
I don't think there's any reason to suppose that their success is fading. The DVD is selling heaps around the world, being no.1 in the DVD charts of many countries.
My Cd is not copy-protected. Could be because i'm from Canada and have the Hollywood Records version.

Maybe nowadays, in the age of DVD, people prefer the possibility to actually see the whole thing - perhaps the concept of a live-album is outdated?
I wouldn't think so. Many bands have released a live album over the last several years, all getting good reviews from the media. AC/DC released a live/studio set (Bonfire), INXS released a live CD and DVD (Live Baby Live), and et cetera.
Perhaps it's because some people wanted a different concert (Milton Keynes isn't super-rare, but is worth seeing), or it's because we want new material (rumors are going around about a new album next year).
The DVD is pretty successful from what I've heard.
Damn straight. Queen On Fire: Live At The Bowl is nearing the end of its second week at #1 on the UK charts. It may go for another week at the rate it is going.

Funny you mention the new live Queen album is copy protected, the American version of the CD does not have the copy controlled info on the CD and is on Hollywood/Universal. The CD was just released one week before the DVD is due. I only paid $14.99. The only time I download music off the internet is for trading ROIO concerts from Pink Floyd and what not. I just got the new live Queen CD this past Tuesday and it kicks ass.
Also, Pink Floyd hit #1 in both the UK and US back in 1995 with their double live CD Pulse which recorded on their hugely successful Division Bell Tour and was the first live recording of Dark Side ever available and Pulse sold 2 million in the US alone within two months of its release. Their compilation of live recordings of The Wall from 1980 and 1981 titled Is There Anybody Out There reached #19 on the US album charts and #1 on Top Internet Album Charts and sold a million in a month as there were two versions released(one with deluxe packaging and one with standard packaging). Zeppelin's live album hit #1 upon release in 2003. Also, competing against crap like Britney and what have you is a problem.
Just wondering: is the mix on CD the same as on the DVD? Because lots of times they seem to differ....

All the work had to be done for the DVD - the MAIN product - artwork, pictures, and the audio. Why not slap it on a CD and sell that too?
