I don't know if it was good or bad, but that's funny for me to read replies where some QZers says that Freddie wouldn't like it and no matter what Brian said... It seems like we all knew Fred better than Brian...
Good point Serry. However, Freddie is on video stating that he liked to get on with new things, and guys from the band said he bored easily. Maybe he'd love the musical, maybe not. I'm not saying this is anything but my thought, but given his personality and history, I couldn't see Freddie at age 59 (were he alive) getting fired up about doing what Brian and Roger have done for 5 years now, which is to constantly perform the same songs from nearly 30 years ago.
Look at it this way. In 1977, a newish band named Queen has won the British Phonographic Industry award for song of the half century. If an act from the 1940s were once again performing their big hit from 1950 you'd think they were a bit sad. To me, hearing B & R playing WWRY & WATC with everyone and their dog is becoming like Chubby Checker doing 'The Twist' for 40 years. Brian is my musical hero and I think a greater man than he is a musician. I also think he's 100% obsessed about shaping Queen's musical history, and it's a bit tawdry to some.

I see you opinion and I can agree about all this the musical fuss, but you know - Freddie sung Bo Rhap and Crazy Little Thing with the Royal Ballet at 1979... I don't think it was something that Queen fans were awaiting for.
I don't think that Freddie would be pleased with the statue to himself and many other things.
But on the other side there is a lot of Queen fans who's very angry to John. So it goes like: if Brian and Roger are doing something - that's bad, if John ain't do nothing - that's bad too, so what is good then? No-one can replace Freddie, so any singer who'd sing Rock You and Chamions would be not much welcome for us as Freddie did, so I don't know if it's right to blame guys for they job. That's a bussiness, if they'd play 'Nevermore' live who'd care about it, besides Queen fans? But they have to bring new audience and only way is play stuff that most of people knows - We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions.
Well apparently he mucked about with the melody of WWRY, so that was stupid. We can see tonight and report back tomoz...
...oh God!!! Another rendition of "Rock You" & "Champions" churned out using another stand-in vocalist bastardising the Queen name yet again!! You wouyld think that Queen never recorded anything else! At least Deacon has the common sense to stay well away. Who's next? Queen+ Kylie or should that be Queen+ young good looking trendy stars making old legends look good...

There is topic where some guys says that Robert Plant was bad at Tribute. So who can sings Queen songs good, except Brian and Roger? We may blame everyone who'd try to do it...

Well Sergey it's the old "without Freddie Queen are nothing" argument. Brian & Roger's solo work sells in low numbers so using the Queen name ensures that they remain in the spotlight.
The new tracks such as "Invincible Hope" for 46664 weren't that great altthough they were well intended. Personally I would prefer to see a new BM or RT solo CD and leave the name Queen alone. It's a bit like McCartney going on stage or releasing new stuff as "The Beatles"..but let me guess you'd probably rush out to buy that?!

Yes, I'd rush and buy it. As well as any solo album, as well as any related album.

I can't see the big problem when they play THEIR (not ours) songs with people they want! Remember Freddie's quote about 'my songs like a Biz razors'? Don't take it too serious, if they play with Britney, McCartney etc. That's a show-biz.

Well I for one, thoroughly enjoyed "Say its not true"
Paul Rogers was an inspired choice, always liked him in Bad Company and Free but he was fantastic doing Rock you and Champions with his great vocals
Well, it wasn't bad. But it just seemed a little flat. And many know I don't care about the band name or the WWRY/WATC performances. I just think things were a little imbalanced, e.g. Brian doing more guitar bits _during_ the singing than usual and Paul Rodger's different melodies.
It was an ok peformance. But the thing that lifted me was the crowd's response to them. Fantastic to see and hear that! They truly are still loved. :)
