Yep... similar thing here. Taught topic of Aids / prejudice through the use of Philadelphia. The lessons were aimed at 14 year olds.

I was thinking of suggesting to my English teacher that our class watch Philadelphia on World AIDS day (December 1). I rented it last night with my friends, and they thought it was a good idea too.
Okay, so I did a kick ass project about AIDS in my Peer Leadership class and I profiled Freddie of course. Can I tell you how much disrespect I saw from my classmates? It's ridiculous! I was explaining how Reagan never mentioned AIDS until the late 80's and some dippy goes, "Reagan had AIDS???" Wow, pay attention.
But not even that. I'm showing part of the clips of Freddie from the FM Tribute Concert & part of the Untold Story and they all just START TALKING! Okay, so you don't like my project... it's mine, not yours, and it's not like you can't put your head down. But at least show me some respect! I don't want to be up here anymore then you want me up here!
And not a lot of people these days know Queen, especially where I live, so it was a bit surreal to hear the beginnings of Bohemian Rhapsody come from the speakers.
I'm done. I'm pissed off, done and yes this is Queen related.
New Jersey, huh? Maybe we'll end up in the same university.
Yay! My teacher said we could watch it. We can only watch part of it though, because we only have 45 minutes. She told me and my friend to pick out scenes that are really important to the story.
