I loved Austin Powers' list of 'People I used to know:
Jimi Hendrix - deceased: drugs
Janis Joplin - deceased: alcohol
Mama Cass - deceased: ham sandwich
Not all the good people die young - what about Bob Dylan, Joan Baez and Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam? They're still knocking around. And John Phillips was by all accounts a real bastard and he died of cancer aged only 60.

Ow my god, I'm worried about my own life now... don't dare to drive to home now. (-;
My father was a very good person and died very young too... almost gonna believe that god is a sadist.

actually, three Ramones are still alive. true, only one is an original, but to some people (myself included) not counting Marky and CJ in the list is roughly equivalent to saying Tim Staffel isn't an important piece of pre-Queen history.
incidentally, while we're listing people who kicked off too early -- George Harrison may have been approaching his twilight years, but it was still too soon, IMO.

they weren't that young, were they?
Maria Callas and Rudolf Nureyev died at their 50s. But for their great talent, their death were mourned like an early death.(Nureyev died of AIDS.)
James Dean died at 24. Freddie used to hold his shortened mic stand behind his neck in his both hands during the midriff as J. Dean did with the rifle in the movie "Giant", which is his famous pose.
Valentino and Chopin died at their 30s.
Jorge Donn was a star ballet dancer and he was famous for some programs choreographed by Maurice Bejart. He died of AIDS at 45. I hear after his death, Maurice Bejart dedicated ballet program "Ballet For Life" to Jorge Donn and Freddie, who liked Ballet so much and danced it in London in '79.
