Ooh, you should remember you live in the South where Queen is still thought of as a homosexual band because they never forgot the I Want To Break Free video! That was 20 years ago but the mentality of some people still continues to amaze me in the Bible Belt.

I live in the US, and Queen are always overshadowed by other bands like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, etc. I hear them played on classic rock radio stations all the time, but it's only a few selected songs, whereas they'll play a huge variety from Led Zeppelin. I don't think Queen are taken as seriously as they are in other places. Here, they're mostly just known for the material on the Greatest Hits albums and the huge success of The Game. But even though the US has gotten a bad name when it comes to liking Queen, there are some of us here with good taste! :)

Queen will never be Big in the states, and that's ashame, cuz seen then in 80 and 82 and sellout crowds, the 82 concert Billy Squier opened up for them, and the news was all about Him, who i like, but the next day, praised all the way how Queen took over the concert and really gave them a awesome review......but your right, The States never did get ahold of them, and that's a shame, and Freddie hated playing here....even thought he had a condo in New York!
Oh well.......up here in Ohio, they play alot of Queen on our classic station, and thankful for that.

I tell you, people here in the U.S. are missing a LOT.
It's true that Queen is really underrated in US especially among the critics, but they are popular among the people. but ofcourse it depends on what type of people u r talking about. If u r into hip hop or modern pop type of music u definately cannot appriciate Queen. But if u r into Rock, u will most definately appriciate Queen's music.

Unfortunately people only listen to the GH 1 and not the albums. BUt i still find it quite fascinating that the generation(my generation) that has never seen Queen live nor has had any new material from them nor has seen or heard praise about them in the TV or radio and especially MTV, likes Queebut there are also poeple who come to me and say thatr Queen is a gay band andthe MUSIC is alsoabout homosexuallity.and that's when I really get pissed off and have to enlighten them that they are wrong.

Where I live (in the Midwest) I usually hear good things about them, I mention them and people will say " Oh cool songs" or " I love Bohemian Rhapsody", things like that, I barely hear people refer to Freddies homosexuality or anything. Not all the states are bad, I do agree that the south probably has more of a problem with them, oh well.

Its probably the same here in the Uk for Metallica, not really appreciated in the mainstream but have plenty of fans that would gladly buy tickets to see them.

True, most of the teenagers in my city are hispanic and most of them do like Queen.
