I'm so sick of artist bringing out greatest hits albums, when they're not that good!

i can understand why some do it... they've got heaps of hits, like Robbie Willams, Kylie, Britney Spears etc. But i still believe there should be a law about greatest hits albums...you have to be at least 30 to bring one out, or have a career running at least a decade.

Britney Spears is not thirty and her career isnt 10 years long!

OK, OK, i dont have that bigger problem with Spears, but this Australian "singer"...Nikki Webster (fuck wit, fuck wit, fuck wit). The blonde dick from the Opening Ceremony at the Sydney 2000 Games. She has a greatest hits album... shes 17 or 18, her career isnt even 5 years long. And i looked at the album, and i didnt know any of them! She's a fuck wit!

Im sorry for ranting, i had to vent anger some how...and as i found out earlier, punching a wall kind of hurts

I'd've used the Dutch charts instead of the U.K charts. Just about every single was a hit. Except for Che-che. That single sucked.

But I quite agree on Nikki Webster. She didn't even turn out to be hot. Just slightly taller and using bigger words. Now Kylie on the other hand..*ruff* *ruff*

The reason why so many artists come up with so many Greatest Hits album even when they already have a compilation is because...

- They've gone through more time on their careers, with of course more hits. So they're pretty much updating the old compilations.

- Their old hits albums were made to fit enough tracks to fill a vinyl record. Now that CD is the universal music format, then they make new compilations to fit 80 minutes of music.

- They owe their record company an album

- The record company wants to cash in on the catalogue of the artist

Did you know Queen were the first to bring out 2 genuine Greatest Hits albums? Well they were.

Anyone remember the German (not sure if they were German?) N.Y.C.C with their cover-filled album "Greatest Hits" which I recall was their debut.

Careful. That means that the members of Journey can still release Greatest Hits albums. Or for that matter, groups like KoRn. It has to be either the whole banana or no banana.

Personally, I think that any band or band publicity crew manufacturing "collectible" anythings should be shipped directly to Devil's Island. Exceptions can be made if I really, really like them. (Before you ask, it doesn't matter if YOU like them.)

i think this just shows how crap the music industry is becoming.

the funny thing about nikki webster is i remebering seeing her on the news at the opening of sydney WWRY going on about how great she througt queen was, even through bohemian rhapsody was the only song of theirs that she knew. anyway when i went to see the musical they had several references taking the piss out of her, i found it quite ironic

it's happened many times. 80's bands such as Devo ("Whip It"), The Proclaimers ("I'm Gonna Be [500 Miles])", and Men Without Hats ("The Safety Dance") have Greatest Hits (well, the latter group has "Greatest Hats" lmao)

Anwyay, it's not all that bad. There are some artists and groups that have been around for years and years. Aerosmith just released a new Greatest Hits album. Guns N' Roses has a Greatest Hits album, Korn (good band) has a Greatest Hits album. It's not that bad.

I do, however, hate the fact that Britney Spears has a Greatest Hits album when she only has, like, 6 songs. And her cover of Bobby Brown's "My Prerogative" does not count, as it is, by far, the single worst piece of garbage I have ever heard.

Well, Queen's done their job, they have three Greatest Hits collections, while others only have one. Kudos, my friends. Kudos.

What about bands releasing 101 greatest hits compilations? The main band that comes to my mind while writing this is the Rolling Stones. They have AT LEAST 6 GH albums, and most of them have very similar tracklists!

Although Britney Spears has a 5 year old recording career to this day, she's had a handful of hit songs in 4 studio albums, and I guess that perhaps that gives Jive Records the right to release a Greatest Hits album.
Kylie Minogue has had a handful of hits since 'Locomotion' came out back in 1988. Her fame in the States faded away after that song, but she still kept her popularity in Europe. Her stardom status became much bigger and eventually resurrected her in countries like the U.S. when Fever came out in 2002.
Robbie Williams (same as Britney) has few albums, but a bunch of hits. Not very popular in the States though.

So you think Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue, and Robbie Williams are releasing hits albums too early?...

Well, now can anyone explain to me why Macy Gray with 3 studio albums and only one hit, and yet she just released a Greatest Hits album?
I mean who gave this woman a recording contract in the first place? She sounds like Axl Rose with laryngitis.
