Besides they gonna tour, they haven't told a single detail about it :p So that doesn't say anything to me.
But when it's 1. January and there's still no word about John, thán I think he will not be a part of it .. till then, I'm still hoping :)
Queen is looking to tour in the spring, with Bad Company's Paul Rodgers handling the vocals. Apparently the news was meant to be kept under wraps, but Brian May's Web site has a quote from May himself "endorsing" the news. May said: "It really all came about because of the Fender 50th Anniversary gig that I did with Paul Rodgers. We were both so amazed at the chemistry that was going on in 'All Right Now,' that suddenly it seems blindingly obvious that there was 'something happening here.'" Originally the two were just talking about going it as a duo, but then they got Queen drummer Roger Taylor in on it and a Queen/Rodgers tour began to take shape. The trio will play songs from both the Queen songbook as well as from Bad Company and Rodgers' other band Free. According to May, the tour should be underway by April.

I think you contradict yourself ... you always said: there is no replacing of Freddie, its queen AND Paul Rodgers...
now you complain that Queen are only a THREE piece at the moment. If anything, than Queen are only a TWO piece consisting of Brian May and Roger Taylor (the other two are gone) ... so why do you already count Paul Rodgers as a Queen member?

Of course I will go to one of the concerts, too curious not to go. But I wouldn't travel a long way. I'll go to one that's sort of nearby.
I am sure they'll put up a great show, Queen-style, but I am not a big fan of these kinds of things to be honest.... I think the musical's enough and it is a good way to keep the Queen legend alive. So why extend everything in such a big way?

I totally understand how you guys feel... It's really strange, although I'd give evrything to see any Queen member live, I also feel some kind of guilt when even thinking about them going on tour under Queen name.. Thinking about it further, I think it's pretty stupid to think that way. It's not like they're betraying Freddie if they go touring. The show must go on, I think Fred would find it ridiculous, people bitching against Brian and Roger all the time. For Gods sake, they were not only working together, they were great friends, they knew each other for half of their lives.. Of course it won't be Queen any more, it could never be without Freddie. But I don't understand what's all the fuss about. In the end, Brian and Roger ARE Queen. Half of it, but still the only living members who want to carry on and do some more music. I don't see what's wrong about it. And concerning the name, DOES IT REALLY MATTER?? Even if they called themselves (and whoever is going with them) "Watermelon", people would anyway say: "Aaah, those are the guys from Queen"... I think they have the right to tour if they want, and I do respect John's choice not to. The name doesn't matter.

Precisely, and this is one of these things. And because of this tour, Queen is mentioned again at so many websited (in just one week from nothing at Google, to dozens of hits about this tour), newspapers and TV shows ..
This tour-news itself is already a great PR for the band!
i think we should just wait and see what happens!! i've never seen them live so this is my only chance(pleased on that point) but if it's in wrong venues(un-able to fill) and too many non Queen songs(too many p.rodgers) it will ruin it i think
i really admire john for what he is,think it's very brave of him to always keep a low profile and only ever get involved when it involves REAL queen issues,ie future audio/dvd releases,it must be tempting sometimes to be like roger and specially brian..but i'd rather be like john,and keep the great memories of the past,instead of MAYBE not so good future memories...good on you john....
I love it when people try to second guess the reasons for John retiring from Queen.
Who knows why he retired...he was never comfortable with the celebrity life and didn't enjoy being famous - perhaps he wanted to spend time with his family instead of travelling the world promoting the musical.
Lets not forget that John was involved with NOBY and The Bejart Ballet performance with Elton John.
However i believe even if Freddie was still alive and Queen were still an active band...John would probably have retired in 1997 anyway...
I would love John to tour with Bri and Rog next year but i doubt it will happen so we have to make the best of it.
