Your right there is absolutely no need for Jamie to come along. But if he's there for a run through of WWRY & WATC then who knows? And yes Spike should be there! Who else would play synth/piano? And it aint his fault that the sound mixers are rammel.

I would also love to see Deacy play the bass.

And everyones entitled to their opinion about whether they should call this thing "Queen" or not. But this is not the first time I've read that people are "threatening" to give away their whole collection, if the tour will be called Queen, goes ahead without John and so on.

Whatever they do... they might collaborate with
Engelbert Humperdinck, Garth Brooks and Barry Manilow...
They might only release Queen + compilations in the future, or things like "The Ballads" "The Powerballads", "More Ballads"...
They might postpone the Boxsets until 2028...

... but WHY THE HELL would someone want to give away his/her collection because of that ? What they do today does not change their music from 1973-1995 !!!!!

It'd be a great sign of unity if John joined the others on tour, and would certainly reinforce the other lads' choice of Paul Rodgers as most worthy of singers.

On the other hand, guys, let's not forget that it's just not worth it if John's heart's not in it! No one wants any half measures, so coercion is just not the answer. If he bows out, let's respect the fact that he was invited and that he made the RIGHT decision (either way).

And for god's sake, can we please stop telling Brian and Roger what they can and cannot do under the Queen banner? As if your silly, whiny opinions actually matter to them! If the members of Queen irk you so much, why not punish them by finding another message board in which to unleash your vain and childish points of view?

It would be wonderful for John to complete the line-up. (Is that accurate? Can only Freddie really complete it?) Definitely John adds legitimacy to it all, but there's the line in "Hang On in There" 'don't fight for lost emotions,' and who knows what the meeting in January means. Radio is hit or miss in many places, because so much progamming (rather than actual DJing) has taken over. Back to humans! Back to humans!!! Live music is where it's at, no matter what the line-up. What does my opinion matter? IMHO John should agree only if they give him substantial decision-making power as in set list, how many nights between shows, etc etc. LA 2002 SAS Band was just an amazing display of musical thunder. Freddie brought so much focus to the songwriting, and his stage presence was undeniably superhuman. Even so no-one would argue that Audioslave should be considered completely equal to Soundgarden, or Rage Against the Machine. The points made by others about the Doors of the 21st Century seem right, as much as I love the Cult (another great English band I see missing from lists on other threads!) Just get out there and do it -- maybe a few club shows rather than big stadiums. Who knows. Gail Dorsey is awesome, and mad props to her. Even if I can't make my schedule work to include a trip to Europe, the news alone is something to be grateful for, and I'll even settle for the multiple box sets in 2050 with Queen + Paul Rodgers. "I just can't get no relief" from the muzak sewage piped in unless I'm at a show...maybe another question is, for the Queen gigs (rather than the South Africa festival), who opens for a band with stature like Queen? And has Macca been asked to play bass? ;)

Of course Brian and Roger can do what they want in calling themselves Queen or not. In my opinion - as born out by various interviews with the band over the years - Queen was always a pretty democratic, and totally solid quartet of specific people.
To the layman, however, you mention Queen, and the image of identity that instantly flashes through their heads is one of Freddie Mercury, as it was he who was always the layman's focal point for the band.
So I do agree with those who bemoan that they call it Queen, cos with or without John Deacon's presence, it still isn't really, is it? (Would the Stones be the Stones without Jagger? Would Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr tour as The Beatles? I think not.)
Having said that - I'll still be at the gigs no matter what they call it!
