I think it would be wonderful if John played with them again. Heck, maybe they'd even finally do a few tracks from "TMITS" live. I think any audience would just love "Red Dirt" ...It would absolutely feel like a new Queen-song.

This would be an even bigger event than the Paul Rodgers announcement, at least for Queen fans. I've been frustrated over John's silence these past years. To have him come out of retirement would be MAJOR.
As far as I'm concerned, if John doesn't join, then you can't call it 'Queen'. Brian and Roger are only 50% of what Queen was, and to me, that's not enough to call it Queen, as opposed to "An evening of Queen music", with Brian May, Roger Taylor, and Paul Rogers.
The band should be a band, not a 'show'. No backup singers, or extra musicians, except for Spike to handle the keys.

Why "should" they bother with Spike? he's a pain in the ass sound-wise because the keys tend to be mixed far too high. Listen to anything post '81 and the keys are almost as prominent as Fred's voice - certainly mixed above Brian.
Ideally, it'd just be a 4-piece, but the band will do what they are told by the promoter and record company.

Without the fan clu there would be no convention which means that once a year 2000 people would not have the best weekend you could imagine - Then again you have probably never been so it is easy for you to sit in your ivory tower and be a critic.

Without John, the show could not (or should not) be billed as Queen & Paul Rogers. If Brian and Roger go ahead and carry on using the queen name as a tool for their own celebrity rather than going on the road in an honest tour as 'Brian May, Roger Taylor and Paul Rogers', it will be a travesty. One of my friends has even sworn that if they do this, he will give away his whole queen collection ( a bit drastic as it's worth about £2000, but at least he's standing by his principles.)
