I also noticed that it wanted to express some emotion but it kinda backfired. Brian has that characteristic, just like Tear it Up. He obviously wanted it to be "hard-rocking and "balls-out" but it just did not click.

It's in my top 5 Queen songs. It really is a great song.
I like live version with Roger's vocal part - he sung at his own good way!
It's not the best *Queen* song..but i love it!
I don't know if it can be the "best" Queen song, it is certainly one of the most emotional. Especially the "there's a face at the window, and i ain't never, never saying goodbye" bit. :(
nowhere near it....fairly average (for queen)
ballad
imho - i'd put at least 50 other queen songs well above it

It's a fitting song to end Queen. An emotional tribute for a friend by friends. I also like the sharing of lead vocals (one of my favorites being Fun It). Let Me Live was a perfect way for each singing member to have the spotlight. No One But You, however, is generally not a great song IMO.
It is a amazing song. But I think most of their last songs were better than the rest. Maybe because of the extra meaning. NOBY is my number 1 Queen song.
I love this song, and played it a lot when my cousin died. I want it played at my funeral one day.

If you die really old it would be kinda stupid :)
True - then I would have to go for "another one bites the Dust" HA Ha
Kind of morbid, but this kid who's graduating with me this year has muscular dystrophy...he's actually supposed to be a sophomore, but they pushed him up to a senior because he's only expected to live until April or May...and that's being optimistic.
If he passes away before graduation, this is the song the choir may perform. The teacher actually had the tact to ask if a student were to pass away before graduating, which song should the choir perform? And not single them out.
But...it's not Queen's best. Or one of them. It's just one of those songs that are good but not GREAT.

like almost many Brian ballads - very rigid in formula, and gushing with overblown sentiment
Excuse me? I take major offense to that! Brian's ballads are some of my favorite Queen songs. All Dead, All Dead, White Queen, Teo Toriatte, and what about SAVE ME?

... that's soooo Bri, and IMHO the reason many fans generally tend to feel so over-protective of the "poor little thing", while just as many tend to despise this kind of weakness ...
... FWIW, agree that like many of his ballads it makes a perfect soundtrack when one feels really low and desperately needs a good weep to get better ...
Perhaps not their best song, but one of the most emoptional for sure, and I just love that dramatic contrast between Bri's and Rog's attitudes - though as a tribute to Freddie I generally prefer "Old Friends"
BTW: ever heard "What Are We Made Of"...?
Peace.
