When did Freddie know he had AIDS?

Sorry for posting a question that surely has been answered before, but anyway... do you know when did Freddie know that he had AIDS? I mean, not the precise date, but was it before The Miracle, after the Magic tour or when?

Montserrat knew he was HIV during the Barcelona sessions - she commented about his "fcaial lesions and his overuse of makeup"

but thta's hIV not AIDS - they are two very distinct things
it is possible to be HIV for years without succumbing to AIDS

Freddie was "ill" with AIDS around the recording sessions for the Miracle - hence the album title

I read a Queen book recently (female author) who said Freddie had been tested not long after Live Aid but was negative, but after a period of uncertainty was tested positive around Easter 1987.

What does Jim Hutton say? There are other people who say he knew on the Magic tour, in fact Brian himself said as much on one of the extras on the DVD.

Brian also said in a TV inty a while back that Freddie had known for at least five years before he died.

Late 1986, cuz Brian said, Freddie had said he didn't want to do this anymore(about touring).

Buy and read Peter Freestone's book - there are answers to most of questions about Fred's personality, because (or as Mr The Fairy King like to say: cuz) people here would tell you their own versions and interpretations of Brian's, Freddie's etc. words!

I just said that we need some good reliable sources of information, but not someone's thoughts about it like "Brian wrote Who Wants To Live Forever and Keep Yourself Alive because he knew that there was something wrong with Fred"... Don't agree?

Yes, it's true, HIV and AIDS are different things. I said AIDS because, at that time, there were not many chances to survive after AIDS had been diagnosed.
I'm not interested in knowing how freddie got it, I just wanted to know how it could have influenced his music and changed his attitude. If he knew it before The Miracle, songs such as I Want It All, The Miracle or Was It All Worth It have much more sense.

Freddie knew it since autumn 86. It was reason for why Queen did not go on tour in 1987.

no he didn't - he knew about HIV in late 86/early 87...but that IS NOT AIDS - please read the previous posts again....

and he was fed up with touring in 86 - BEFORE he was diagnosed HIV (which is fekkin well different to AIDS) - if you listen to the queen for an hour tape (89) he comments on his feelings after the magic tour - how he was so

"fed up with the endless cycle of record/promote/tour" and he "wanted to get away from the routine" -

and anyway.

queen didnt tour in 1987 because they had the whole year off! which was decided in early '86 regardless.freddie continued to perform on and off(to promote barcelona etc), until his final live performance, which was on the 14th April 1988, at the time musical

if you want to know when freddie had AIDS, surely shouldnt you read jim huttons book?

I saw some extracts,but that wont help. early 1987 for HIV is the best guess.altho in the extract from Huttons book, it says he told Hutton then he had full blown AIDS.

Apparentely i read somewhere, Freddie knew he had HIV from very late in September 1986. He had AIDS from circa March 1988 onwards. I may be slightly out though. I've just seen this awful pic of him in a paper on another website taken in very late October 1991. I was surprised just how fast he faded from may 91. I've never seen any pics of him from Aug 1991 onwards but now i have. This may sound stupid but was he able to grow a full stubble then as in the pic his stubble is completely thinner and shorter. Also how could anyone go around taking pictures of people dying and get paid for it. I can't stand the press. Sorry if what i have described about this pic offended you.
