I think Guns N' Roses are a great band
For Axl to sing Bo Rhap with Elton John at the Freddie Tribute Concert was a great honour for him
They are still together but without Slash, Duff and the other guy
What do we think of them?
P.S Getting their Greatest Hits album this Saturday

This question should be more divided into 2 secions:
- What do we think of Axl, and what do we think of the rest of the band.
On the recent 'Wish You Were Here' topic I posted how despite being an extremely talented musician an songwriter, Roger Waters led Pink Floyd to a break up thanks to his arrogance and over-controlling attitude.
A very similar case happens with Guns N' Roses. Their shot to fame came nearly instantly when they released their first solo album 'Apetite For Destruction', and all of sudden they were seen as the biggest musical sensation of the generation.
Eventually Axl's antics had to come to the surface, and he wanted to control everything surrounding the band. That eventually lead to all of his fellow bandmates leaving the band.
Not to mention all the riots that Axl started by not willing to perform concerts, and by picking fights on stage with his bandmates, crew, and members of the audience.
Slash couldn't have said it better when he left the band in 1996:
- "With Axl, is just impossible to work with".
I used to be a big Guns N' Roses fan on their heyday, but I hate Axl for being such a prick. I yet admire him a respect him as a musician, but other than that the guy has not many good things to show.
Like Freddie said once...
- All rock bands have fights, but bands break up when there's a prick who is stronger than the rest of the band".

Why don't you just go through the Book of Hit Singles, tell us what you think of each group in turn, and then perhaps we could move on.
I love Guns N' Roses. Granted, Axl Rose was an ass, but they ended up creating some great music before imploding. The Greatest Hits album is good, but try Appetite For Destruction. It's definitely their best album. And Slash was an amazing guitarist.
GNR are awesome(not as awesome as Queen tho...)but...i dont really like axl...
I pretty much agree with all that has been said.
I love G&R but Axl, doll, please stay away from the plastic surgeons...and the rest of humanity while youre at it @_@

They're cool but who was the singer that got drunk and passed out on stage?
love them, enough said.
Everyone seems to love the music of Guns N' Roses, but hate Axl Rose... Doesn't surprise me, really.
I remember attending the New York show for the Guns N' Roses comeback tour in late 2002. It was a great show, believe it or not. Axl's voice was still in good shape despite the huge gut, and the botox.
I remember before the show started, some girl was holding a sign saying...
- "I LOVE YOU AXL, FUCK SLASH!"
Then the whole arena started booing her, and throwing shit at her. That truly showed that people were there for a bit of taste from the past rather than to show their support for Axl's new band.
Turns out to be that the next date after New York, was Philly. The infamous date that ended up in a riot when Axl (once again) decide not to show up on stage. The promoters got so pissed off that they decided to cancel the rest of the tour.

yes, they were huge i remeber. It was one of the biggest bands of all time. They were so fucking great. But Axl ruined the band with his sterotype macho style.he wasnt a good leader of the band. But begin in such band,it`s not healthy for anyone.
One of the last great rock bands, but the mix of personalities and experiences and musical styles in the band - which gave them their edge was too volatile too last.
As for Axl, it's a shame his mental state and his work ethic have stopped him from geting the credit that his musical ability deserves.

They were good. Despite Axl's asshole behaviour... he was a great songwriter and their music was good.
Especially the "Use Your Illusion" era was great.
Songs like "November Rain", "Estranged", "Don't Cry" are simply fantastic pieces of music IMO.
I don't care what they're doing now or why they broke up, etc. They won't ever be able to top Use Your Illusion I and II.
I think they should rather spend their time on other things than music and fighting and putting bands together and breaking up again...

Great band. Love Mr. Brownstone.
Guess I'm the only one who is not a fan, and I also thought Axl Rose singing BoRhap was hideous.
I don't think about Guns N'Roses at all!
