You have your own opinions, but to me John just looks board in the Bohemian Rhapsody video. Or was he just worried that no one was going to buy it?

Freddan is right. He always looks like that. He is cute.
He dosen't look bored all the time. Occasionally he does. He dosen't look miserable on songs like Friends Will Be Friends and These Are The Days Of Our Lives, it's just Bohemian Rhapsody I've noticed he really looked bored.
Think of the bass line when you see him as being bored. It's a pluck at nearly every passing bar. Not something congruent with shaking your ass about and making odd faces toward the camera. The quiet moments deserve quiet body composure. His disposition is appropriate for what is going on in the song at the given moment.
You also have to keep in mind that they were trying to recreate the Queen II cover. Each has his own expression in this picture, and John's is a solemn expression. Ultimately, this reflects his reserved personality, and therefore answers why it would seem he's bored in the video of Bohemian Rhapsody.

that's just the way he always was, even in real life i suspect. have you even seen him look especially exited or happy on stage? he always said that he didn't enjoy making videos.

It's funny how close to the truth you actually were. John Deacon was Queen's bass player from 1973 to 1974, when he quit the music business because of the pressures involved.
Queen never found a suitable replacement, so from that moment on they used a cardboard cut-out on stage and in the video's. Brian played bass on the albums. No wonder poor John looks board.

I always used to think John looked a bit wierd in the guitar solo bit just before the operatic section, something to do with the way he was moving his hips.
I was watching something about bass players the other day and they were talking about how bass players are usually overshadowed by the lead singers and while they were saying it they played a clip from bo rhap were Freddie's playing the piano and you can see John in the background.
Very appropriate considering how bored John looks in this video.

Well what did you expect him to do? Give a creepy smile and do the Mexican hat dance? And anyways that bit of Bohemian Rhapsody was meant to be sad and haunting and everyone looked like that. e was probably just concentrating on miming playing the bass.

During God Save The Queen, Freddie gives the crown to Roger, Roger wears it and then just drop it. Then John wears it and the other members leave the stage. Look at John when he notice that he's the only one in the center of the stage... That's the weirdest run that I've ever seen.
