Some of them are alright, but overall they are a waste of time.

Eminem's version of Toy Soldiers is fantastic. But then he always makes great songs sound better. Look what he did with Dido's Thank You. Turned it into my favourite rap song Stan.

'Stan' is a great song, even if the music wasn't written by Eminem, Dr.Dre, or whoever works for Shady/Aftermath.
The story grabs you from the beginning from when you start listening to the song. I don't like Eminem for being such an ass, but I have to admit 'Stan' is one of the stories ever told in a song. The video is very cool as well, and Dido plays Stan's girlfriend.

Thank you one and all for responding to this AND pretty much agreeing with me. My opinion, as the Americans say, may not be worth a hill of beans BUT it seems to me that whilst there are some good original bands out there, in general the music industry has gone to pot.

Thank you Mr Jingles for pointing out another thing that I absolutely loathe which is "artists" partially taking remnants of older songs and again adapting them to their so called "style" (LAUGH!!) and in the process completely wrecking the original!!

By the way, "Call on Me" was originally a song by Steve Winwood named "Valerie" which actually had full lyrics to it rather than just repeating a fraction of the chorus which again proves my point that most artists these days don't have the talent to tie their own shoelaces let alone the creativity to come up with something better.

I hate all of these modern bands. I like what my uncle says, "I don't like any music that is as new as my grandchildren."
Well, I don't know if he says that often, but I heard him say it once. ;-)

What really gets me is that their is SO much repetition in the music nowadays. Sure, everyone is entitled to their tastes I say, I don't argue with that, but why does hip hop/rap dominate the market??? Surely there can't be THAT many fans of it out there???? I watched the last Grammys and all it seemed to be was rap/hip hop or what they term r & b which in my opinion is not.

And it seems to me that both the singers and followers of such music have the most arrogant attitude, oh we are so hip and you are not, as if to say here we are in your face, we are going to be rude and annoying and if you don't like it well tough!! I suppose in "my day" the punk revolution was the equivalent but punksters pretty much kept to themselves.

Bill Cosby it put it well that Mozart's father would have probably said "Turn that crap down!" to Mozart when he was playing his own music. Its an age old argument that us old farts don't like new music. But there's no accounting for taste!!!
