wheres jim hutton?

As they say, a true friend and lover....Never..kisses, and then tells, especially for money.

And people still have the gall to ask or wonder or analyze why Freddie kept his personal life--(God Forbid!), personal--and --private--.

Geez, Princess Diana, lovely woman of grace that she was, also always asked fans, press, the world, to please respect her privacy and her private life.

Don't get me wrong, when any person chooses to enter public life as an entertainer, politician, etc., well they have to understand and know that it's part of the deal that the public will be fascinated with and want to know about them.--

--And some of that--IS--ok and helps make that public person famous, promote their work as an entertainer,artist, politician, and they can even use their celebrity--as leverage for good causes,-

--as Princess Diana did, as U2's Bono and Bob Geldof do.....and YES---

---------as Brian and Roger do campaigning with Nelson Mandela to Internationally raise AIDS awareness and help to find a cure.-----------

--But, the public has to know--when and on what items to draw the line and give a public person some peace, quiet, privacy, and respect them with dignity.--

--Whatever during his life on this earth, Freddie chose to keep as some precious yet private part of his life--

--whether it be the good which I know in my heart there most definitely was,..--

--or the bad or rather upsetting things as when he got AIDS, or simply coughing on a mango, geez, people (Jim included) should respect Freddie's memory and show some class and levave sone things unsaid and private showing respect. Even in Heaven....a soul needs to have peace.

sorry to say this guys... but its obvious that you have all read his book! talk about hypocracy at its best! can you all honestly say that not once have you read any material on any stars? I read Jims book because it was about his life with Freddie, I am a Queen fan, have been since Sheer Heart Attack days my home is proof of this, I love Freddie Mercury always have.. always will... I am not apologising, far from it., I found it an interesting read... along with everyone here that has read it too! I suggest you all take a good long look at yourselves before you criticize Jim, as we have all guilty of reading material like this at some time of our lives! I asked one question on this page.... Wheres Jim Hutton? full stop... I got my response, thank you... youve all seemed to have turned this into a debate .... and I thought Queen fans where nice people!

--It also ticked me off when Princess Diana's Butler wrote and published a tell all--which I won't read.--

--And get this Major tick off of mine...when John F. Kennedy Jr. died in the airplane crash, the Managing Editor of "George Magazine" that J.F.Kennedy, Jr. had been the Editor In Chief of,-

--Well this Managing Editor who was--also supposed to be a Good and Trusted confident/Friend of J.F. Kennedy, Jr.--

--fired staff members of "George Magazine" for trying to peddle tell alls to book publishers and the press.--

--Then,--how's this for gall or rather B**lls--this same Managing Editor wrote and published a -----scathing--tell all of J.F. Kennedy Jr. that J.F. Kennedy Jr.'s family, the Kennedy's tried to block.--

--And--NO---I never read it, I don't care to and I did see even the "evil" press here in the United States finally get some standards and class and sense of respect and they refused to cover the book and painted the Managing Editor/Author as the money hungry backstabbing jerk he was.-

Arlene, I am not fighting with you...I am just pointing out that we are all guilty of reading material that is published on our favourite bands.. all authors make money. and where does it go? straight into their pockets.. you yourself have posted a topic on this forum regarding books ... you've ordered Queen -The early Years (Mark Hodkinson).. regardless of what they write, we all want to know as much as we can about Queen (this forum is proof of that) we all have our own stories to tell, when we saw them..... what Freddie looked like before he died.... etc etc.. we all know what Freddie went through for goodness sake, he was dying, it was very sad. I just dont like to be 'shouted down' for something we all do, but are too chicken to admit it.

I didn't mean to sound like I was shouting. Sorry, really....

I just want to make clear that while everyone out there is entitled and certainly can make up their own decision to read whatever press or books are out there on Queen or any public figure (s)--

--that I personally do not care to ever read scandal or tell alls and I dont, so I don't want to be lumped into the hypocrite category. That's all.--

--And with certain public figures, who suffer through such tragedy as Freddie, Princess Diana, or J.F. Kennedy Jr. did, I already cried when they died, and I still cry when I think about what they must have gone through, and I cry about what the world has lost, and for their friends and families.--

--I want to know about the "artist" and what informed their work, career, ambition. Their personna, personality.--

--Interviews with them and their friends, families, collegues, and yes lovers (if respectful) that are informative, insightful, humorous, and leave indelible, meaningful, and insightful memories and a unique well researched scholarly and entertaining understanding of the said public figure and why we love their work, art, talent, etc.--

--And why we continue to cherish, honor, love, and remember these people. That's what I want to read about.--

Arlene, I respect your opinions., but I found Jims book quite informative., it was written out of love for Freddie,(yeah regardless of what people think). Freddies spirit will be looking down on Jim and all the others his shared his life with, I'm sure he holds no grudges to the people and fans that have shown an interest in his life ... As regard to Princess Diana., I feel sorry for her family.. of course I do., I have a child myself, I would hate to leave this world the way she did, it was unfortunate I know, but I always wear my seatbelt in a car, because I know I have a daughter at home waiting for my safe return.. I'm NOT dissing her, she was a great person a wonderful human being., so was John Kennedy (they will be sadly missed)but you have to look at the circumstances here.. they died through negligence., I know the press hound them,. but they chose to be in the spotlight and I personally hate the paparatzi for what they can do. I suggest you read Jim's book, you will find out for yourself., and if you chose not to... thats okay.

As far as the book is concerned, people buy these things and read them because they are interested in the subject matter - the standard of the writing is not an issue for the buyer who acts in good faith. As it turns out, if you really want to find out more about Freddie, listern to the records - these books are subjective and, in the case of Jim Hutton, an act of revenge on some of Freddie's closest friends. No real insight into the man, this book is simply a catalogue of who bought what for whom and sycophantic nonsense.

Yoy say this book (which I still don't want to read) is an act of revenge by Jim on some of Freddie's closest friends. Do you mean that in the right way...as in justice on those who betrayed Freddie..or in the wrong way as in being a bad person and in Jim betraying Freddie and Jim betraying Freddie's friends. I'm interested in this. Please tell me more.

The guy obviously had a great deal of affection for Freddie but the glamour and the money also had a big impact on Jim Hutton's opinions. He claims never to have heard of Freddie Mercury until they met in 1984 but was a big fan of David Bowie - doesn't make sense.
He also claims that Freddie left his house to Hutton in an oral agreement - this left a certain amount of bitterness in Jim Hutton since Freddie left nearly all his possessions to Mary Austin - whom he vilifies throughout the tome...

He's been holding on for quite a while. 'Tis admirable.
