Are thinking of just Magic Tour shows or of all the tours? In general his voice was in top shape usually at the beginning of each tour, on later shows it didn´t sound as good anymore as he strained his voice very often on the first few shows.

yeah,I mean only magic tour. This one was much better than works tour which is his worst altough the recordings I have from the works are not that bad.

At the beginning of the Works tour, in Brussels, his voice sounded pretty good, but it became worse on later shows of the tour.
I´ve heard that even one of the Sun City shows had to be cancelled, because Freddie completely lost his voice during the show.

his voice wasn't in too bad a shape during the end of the magic tour. he could hit the notes in we are the champions easily, which he struggled on during live aid and on fire

His voice is really husky in magic tour, a lot crisper on hot space tour i thought.
D
His voice sounded great during the Magic Tour - very powerful and mature. That's definitely one of my favorite Queen periods - and the best tour.
That time will come, 1 day youll see, when we can all be friends

i do know what you mean in 86, but alot of the magic shows his voice is very good and powerful, as the shows go on he suffers terrible with his throte nodules, i read in one of the bio's his doctors told him not to do live-aid or the magic tour due to the state of his throte, also jim hutton said when freddie got up in a morning he would sit and cough his guts up for 30mins, and also in another bio aparent the record company bosses were worried about freddies drinking and partying and his 40 a day ciggie habbit as it was ruining his voice!!!
look how freddies voice isnt husky or ish on innuendo when he packed the ciggies in,
in his own addmision he said in 85-86 thats why he smokes 40 day to get that husky voice and he said i hope the fans like it,,
p.s the magic tour was the best tour imo,,

If you can get your hands on Queen Live in Budapest '86 you'll find the definitive magic tour show. It doesn't have all the grandeur of Wembley but as a unit Queen are notjing short of amazing and Freddie's voice soars.........

I agree with the above statement. But Freddie always had trouble with his voice during tours. It's not like a guitar string where if it breaks you can fix it. And being a smoker doesn't help either.

Latemix,

I think you'll find that the film of the Budapest how has been speeded up to a great extent for some reason - the pitch of Freddie's voice is completely wrong - I don't believe he EVER sang like that or that the band played any of the songs *as fast as that*.

It had been speeded up, yes.

I think that in Innuendo and Made in Heaven Freddie had a different voice because of Aids, and also cigarrettes, and as I always say, if he was alive at this moment, he would be the best singer.
He had an amazing voice and parties too ja ja, so you must understand that period of his voice. You know, he was a person, and he had the right of having fun.
