Maybe there was more - this is just from memory. He is apparently a long time friend of Brian and as such sure a good choice for the tour.

Paul Rodgers had numerous hits, if you don't know him, it's not his fault:) I am sure you would recognise such classics as "Shooting Star", "All Right Now", "Feel Like Making Love" and " I Can't Get Enough Of Your Love" if you hear them on the radio.

They were also both on the 1989 Rock Aid Armenia single of Smoke On The Water, along with Rog. It's quite funny if you watch the video, as PR looks like a greasy balding chip shop owner. Nice!

I don't think Brain or Roger will be that bothered as I would imagine there are no exclusivity clauses on the merchandising.

Brian also joined PR at the London Forum in 1994 on the Muddy Waters tour.

And to be honest, belly, the fact that you haven't heard of him says a lot more about you than it does about PR.

Allow me to clear up the discussion on the notoriety of Paul Rodgers. He has been tremendously successful with Free and Bad Company, yes. People are familiar with this man. However, he, as a solo commodity, is not famous. TO say Paul Rodgers has had a lot of famous songs is a lie. TO say that Free and Bad Company had a lot of famous songs would be truth. It's like saying Roger Daltrey had a lot of famous songs; yes, he did while fronting The Who, but not as a solo commodity.

And Paul Rodgers (as a person) is a bit less famous then, say, Elton John, George Michael and Robbie Williams, the three most-oft mentioned possible frontmen for a Queen+ tour.

QueenZeppelin, how is it a lie to say that Paul Rodgers had numerous hits? True, he had them with Free, Bad Company AND as a solo artist. It's useless to ague about who is to credit when an artist has hits with songs he wrote/co-wrote and sang in a band or as a solo artist. But I really would prefer not to be called a liar.

'Scuse me Benn but why did you have to go and get a little nasty like that? As I said in the beginning, I think Paul Rodgers has quite a good voice. I was merely making an observation which you have to admit that MOST PEOPLE do not know who Paul Rodgers is. I'm not trying take away from his achievements, I'm not trying to trash him, and after looking at this topic I now know more about him. I humbly stand corrected and more informed.

And for your information if you looked at my profile you'd see that my music tastes DOES go beyond Queen. I have a music collection of over 200 CD's, 155 tapes and 70 LPs which not only has contemporary rock but such diversity from new age, alternative, ethnic, jazz and classical - music that spans from the 1940's up to today. My husband has twice as much a collection. I really don't think you need to make the assumption about me that just because I don't know about Paul Rodgers that my music tastes are limited to Queen.

And just an add on to that and from comments on others, so what if I didn't know about Paul Rodgers before this? That doesn't make me any lesser a person or a fan of good music. Can't anyone make an observation around here without people taking offence and trouncing all over you??

Almost the same goes for Freddie than, doesn't it? Didn't have too many hits...

Incorrect

Both Giving It All Away and One Man Band were top 10 hits for Roger in the UK as singles, whilst Daltrey, Ride A Rock Horse and Under A Raging Moon were huge sellers as albums both in the UK & US. His recent hits collection "Moonlighting" is currently residing, as we speak, well up in the top 40 I believe. I think his solo version of I'm Free from the London Symphony Orchestra Tommy album was also a top 5 single in '72.

You also have to remember that he was HUGE as a solo performer / ACTOR with his roles in the films Tommy, Lizstomania, McVicar and The Buddy Story (or was it Buddy?) and has had great success with TV roles such as that in Highlander. His profile was also recently raised when he received his gong from HRH Queen Elizabeth II..........

Paul Rodger's most successful work has come under
band names ,that is why his name is not as well recoginized. There are many people who may like and know Queen songs and would recognize Freddie Mercury's face and voice but may not necessarily know the name Freddie Mercury. His solo chart sucess(if he had any) obviously does not rival Queens sucess. There is some similarity in the comparison of name recognition.
