well i am in my opinion hot space rocks!!! it's just a change from from the regular queen and besides if you don't like dancey pop songs then you still have the slow, life is real, las palabras de amor the hard rocking calling all girls and put out the fire the legendary under pressure and cool cat, well i'm not going to lie it does sound jamacin like but it sounds good (i love cool cat)

I am totally sick of people saying that Hot Space sucks, that it's a failure, that it's a BAD album... I'm just soooo sick and tired to hear them. They have no idea of what they're talking about. I can undertand people saying that HS ain't their favorite album since its SO different from the others - that's fine. It ain't everyone who can get used to that funky-dance-disco musical style. But I can't stand people saying: "This album sucks and that's it".

It has grown on me a bit, but I still think it's their weakest album. After all, it was an experiment where Queen tried not to be Queen.

And to be on topic, I think Hot Space is one of the weakest Queen albums, but not entirely without merit. :)
it is very weak - as queen albums go - remember Flash gordon was a soundtrack - Hot Space is far and away the weakest

One of the great things about Queen is their music has so many different styles. I love variety, and to me life is boring without it. That is why I love Queen, and I don't hate Hot Space either. It's a band doing what they do best - creating diversity.
have just heard the fancourt stuff ....and next to that HS sounds quite good...on second thoughts - nO it doesn't - they're both weak!!! very weak indeed!

And sometimes it seems as we can't critisize WWRY at all but can blame Hot Space all the time. For me Hot Space is much better than any musicals, Q+PR reunions etc!
I think hot space is not so weak that everyone always says, but it´s certainly not one of my top queen albums!! Maybe people not like it cause of the different stile, the songs are not that weak, Back Chat and Staying Power are really good!! Ok, calling all girls, cool cat and some other disco songs on the album are not that good. But Put out the fire, Life is real and Las palabras de amor sounds more like the usual queen, and they are all good songs!!! Theres still 2 things you should remember:
- The songs sound completely different and much better live!!
- Under Pressure ROCKS!!!
So after all I would say it´s a bit underrated by the fans...

You are so right!!!!! Hot Space is an outstanding album!!!!! There are some (many) people out there unable to recognise it!

Not really because it does suck. They took a chance, did something bold, but it failed. Most bands could never recover from back to back flops like Flash Gordon and Hot Space.
