Rolling Stone has just issued the hundred greatest artists of all time - but where are Queen? Now I know that Rolling Stone has never been fans of the band, but should they really have been left out completely? Here are the links:

Resistance is futile. You are now an orb.
I like that list personally..if only for this...

8) Little Richard by Little Richard

lol...someone had to pick themselves

tho 9) made me think..

9) Aretha Franklin by Jerry Wexler

if only it were by Freddie Mercury.

and who is Jerry Wexler?
Queen and Pink Floyd were both snubbed. I take it Supertramp would be ignored too. Seems like real rock music gets shot down by a**hole critics!
"Spread your wings and fly away, fly away, far away!", "No one makes me sing lullabies and no one makes me close my eyes"
No Queen, No Billy Joel, No Pink Floyd, No Metallica.

Rolling Stone doesn't know shit about music, and that's the bottom line.

Meh, who cares. Critics don't know the difference between good music and their own farts.

And who is that Rolling stone???

I read this list and was completely ticked off at many artists not included, but most significantly Queen, and/or Freddie Mercury.

But...Rolling Stone has made no bones about their 3 decade long disdain for Queen.

Read Rolling Stone's current Book of 20th Century popular artists guide to their albums.

They cannibalize Queen and every album Queen ever released. Thank goodness I did NOT buy the book, I read it in the store FIRST.

But then I have read that Roger once was so disgusted with Rolling Stone that he wrote them an angry letter...on an air sickness bag!

That's MY ROGER!!!!! Good for him!!!!

Jerry Wexler was for quite a few decades one of the top Brass, Heads of A&R, Producers at Atlantic Records, and a champion of "crossing over" R&B music into the mainstream. He "Discovered" and mentored Aretha Franklin, but he also signed to Atlantic Records and/or collaborated with...Sound Engineer/Producer
Tom Dowd, The Allman Brothers Band,
Wilson Pickett, ....The Rolling Stones,
....Led Zeppelin, Van Morrison, Otis Redding, etc.

I agree, had Freddie been around still...Freddie would have been a WONDERFUL person to discuss Aretha Franklin....

Also...Rolling Stone should have gone to former Columbia CEO/President Walter Yetnikof...who signed Freddie to Columbia Records for Freddie's solo Recording Deal...Yetnikoff is a BIG deal...still in the record industry, just wrote a Big selling book I've read parts of....

...and Rolling Stone should have asked Yetnikoff to give his fond artistic impressions and recollections of Freddie (which Yetnikoff was happy to do and already did do for the Freddie Mercury Solo Collection Box Set.)

I am certain that Yetnikoff would have elaborated on how wonderful and creative our Freddie IS and the substantial landmark contributions Freddie made to music, history, and popular culture.

Everyone knows that if you bought only the records that RS recomended you by based on their reviews that you would have the WORST record collection in the world!
