SHOULDN'T "queen" WEAR A :"red ribbon"ON STAGE?

On March 20th 1992, at "The Freddie Mercury Tribute" Andy Butterfield launched the Red Ribbon as the worldwide sign for AIDS-awareness and founded the (and still very busy!!!) RED RIBBON INTERNATIONAL.
People should wear this symbol as a sign of their awareness of hiv and aids and compassion to the and with the people infected.
To visualise their knowledge, a confirmation showing that aids does exist and a message to have ONLY safe sex.
Millions of people got themselves this Red Ribbon, and they were sold throughout the world and many worldfamous artists wore them at awardpresentations and during concerts. With our hero Freddie being the most influential inspiration in those days, Queen themselves wore them too.
BUT WHY THE HELL DON'T THEY WEAR THE RED RIBBON ANYMORE? How can they co-organise the Nelson Mandela 46664 concerts 2x, and NOT wear this worldwide and established symbol anymore?
Queen is SO hot, and SO popular, AND ON TOUR again, that i am amazed that they do NOT use their possibilties to reach so many youngsters during this tour, and make them aware of this terrible disease, to have safe sex, and give away (or even sell, with all profits going to the Red Ribbon International or the Mercury Phoenix Trust) red ribbons at the venues where they perform? People should NEVER stop wearing the red ribbon as long as this desease is still growing by the day and taking millions of peoples lives.
QUEEN HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY HERE,i would say.

WHAT DO YOU THINK....shouldn't they wear the ribbon on stage, off stage and certainly during interviews and pressconferences?
They could easily show a beautiful short promotionfilm during the show to tell about all this AGAIN !!! In Holland, Marco Borsato does this for WARCHILD. every single show, he shows this video and he raises a lot of sympathy, awareness and donations from ALL his audiences!
QUEEN should do the same and grab every opportunity to tell the world, OVER AND OVER AGAIN ! (funny...that's a Valentine song !!!)

But everything they do or so is for the Mercury Phoenix Trust so their Red Ribbons...they have them in their hearts, their souls and their minds.

I don't think those Red Ribbons are a big deal anyway...They do so much for AIDS that they don't have to wear it anymore I think, but hey, that's just my opinion. :P

Yeah, can't you email Brian May on his website or at least write him a leter. If you think it's that big of a deal (i think it's a good idea to wear the ribbons), then politely send a letter to one of the guys and tell them.

i also agree they should wear ribbons and just write a letter to somone who can pass it on or e-mail somone from Queenzone cos im sure one of them can send it into the right direction.

socio-political messengers at all.

Well, maybe a video of people having AIDS while the song "It's A Beautiful Day" plays...then at the end of the song and video, we see and hear Freddie say : "C'est La Vie !" (That's Life !) because that would leave a very good message.

There's no known cures and Freddie knows it and says "C'est La Vie !" That might be a good idea...

I'll try to respond to everyone...

Someone said that rock stars saying something about abstinence is silly. Well, they don't tell you not to do it, they tell you to do it with caution. And even if that was the case, it's just a reputation that rock stars have. It's not every rock star that is like that. A lot of them are, that's true.

Someone said that rock stars should not be socio-political at all. I disagree. Rock stars can reach more people than politicians and if messages can be heard by them, then it's good. People will listen more to them than any politician. For exemple, if George Bush would do a campaign for AIDS, do you think it would bring more money ? Well...I don't know, but I don't think so...Politicians, well most of them, give bad exemples to people. Violence, bombs, nuclear weapons or any kind of weapons (Best exemple is Bush), unfaithful husbands (Clinton), corruption and I don't know exactly what (Nixon)...the list goes on and on...

Elton John and Queen have done a lot for AIDS.

Anyway, maybe they should give Ribbons or Bracelets of Freddie Mercury for the USA Tour and the Canadian Tour, if there's any.

They might even say on stage : "Please give for the Mercury Phoenix Trust !". And Brian says he doesn't do it for the money because he has enough, then I guess Queen should give all the money that the merchandise and the tickets give them after having paid the crew. Not just a small part of the money.
