No - I don't think they should. I think if you did it all the time then it would lose the meaning when they are worn for special occasions (such as World Aids Day) - and then lose their impact? But hey..............if they decide to, then why not wear a "care bear", "save the koala pin" a "legacy pin" and perhaps a "red nose" as well ???? Could make a great costume !!
(hehe) Just kidding on that - but seriously - I think NO as it can lose it's impact if worn all the time.

Djeezes, all this fuss about what? It's just rock'n'roll you know. Brian and the band wear those let me live-bands, so what the hell are you nagging about?

The idea of an Aidsmovie during a beautiful day is very sick. I don't anyone to throw up in my neck during the film. Imagine...

Their real message, if there's one, is just in their music. The band playing Show Must Go On will be much more intense and beautiful than anything else.

Can I ask who is Marco Borsato ? The Dutch Bono ?

I saw a picture of him but what does he sing ? Why is he an a**hole ? Is that just an opinion of that's the opinion of almost everybody ?

Dan.

Well darling, he sings in dutch... and I think he is not an asshole... that's just the opinion of some people.... I think he does a good job asking for attention for an organisation as war child...
My opinion is that some of his songs are okay...

So Marco Borsato being an asshole is just the opinion of some people, not the entire dutch population ;)

By the way... Bono is great too!

Thanks for the info ! Some people are kind to take their time and answer questions in an intelligent way...

oh who freakin cares if they wear red ribbons....?let them move on from the AIDS movement for a little while...i mean they just played 46664...give them a break!
Freddie: "Yes, we'll have a great big cock fly over the crowd!" Roadies: "Yeah! Great Idea!" Freddie: "And it will fly into a great big mouth with a moustache!"

If you go out on the streets and ask people nowadays if they know what the symbol means, you will be astonished by the fact that almost 90% of the youngsters ( 14 to 20 years ) do NOT know what the Red Ribbon means or stands for...
THAT is why the band ( being very well able to use their role as communicators to the max ) should wear them as much as possible. The Ribbon has already lost its meaning and impact through the years for the biggest part.
WE, the Queenfans...WE know...most of us i hope.
But there are still TOO many paople NOT aware and if a band like Queen does tell them and shows them every time....THEN the power of awareness and the symbol will return.
NOBLESSE OBLIGE....
I think they are obliged to do this. They already don't play Freddies songs too much (2-3 per show only...!!!) so, do they have to shut up and not pay respect to at least make their audiences aware of the reason and the cause we (and they) lost the best entertainer of all times?
It certainly won't offence or hurt anybody if they do so, and it sure as hell CAN save a lot of lives when and if they do wear the Red Ribbon.

Oh yeah...about Marco Borsato....
HIS last shows in 2004, were a LOT more spectaculair, surprising and entertaining than the dissappointing Brixton Queen show....that says it i guess....Marco easily equals Robbie at Knebworth...or Queen in 1986!!!
Would love to see "Queen and Paul Rodgers" top that...or make an attempt to do so....
Can you imagine Brian flying through the sky like Rob Winter ( ex-Robby Valentine guitarist too, who went on tour with the Brian May Band in '93 as support-act )during a guitar solo? and even if Brian would do that..it wouldn't be original anymore as it has already been done now....by Rob!
Marco's shows are packed with the newest hightec gimmicks and surprises, and for sound and vision it is the creme de la creme...haven't seen that in Brixton, or hearted that from the other shows...
Weren't Queen wellknown and famous for that in Freddies days?
When using the name of Queen....there should at least be some of the old ingredients in the show?
Now they are trying SO hard NOT to make it look like the old Queen...that using the name Queen on tour doesn't seem fit anymore...
If they change everything, then why not the name too?
RIGHT !!!
another name doesn't sell tickets quit as easy!

Who cares that they don't know it. wearing a Ribbon doesn't cure Aids, knowing what it means doesn't cure Aids. So whats the point.
I think most Queen fans (people who go to Queen, you know, the band who lost his singer to AIDS) know what Aids is, and how to get and prevent it.

Dude! Climb down off your soapbox.

Your pontificating is ridiculous.
You think people are that stupid that they need a red cloth tied around the arms of rock stars to remind them of what aids is?

Why stop at a red ribbon? Why don't the band have images of sick and dying aids patients in a hospital ward up on the big screen. Followed by a guy in a giant condom suit entering the stage with a placard around his neck that reads: Remember Safe Sex Kids!

They're a rock band for chrissakes, not an educational institution.

Well said Knute!

Perhaps Roger and Paul should have unprotected anal sex live on stage during the show to remind people of the danger!!!

No! Queen never used gimmicks like Marco Borsato. Queen just performed, and didn't use hi-tech tricks to make the shows interesting.

And if you want red ribbons on stage. form your own band
