I find that you people who are against this tour are NOT fans of Queen but they are fans of Freddie Mercury: you are fans of what Freddie Mercury did in the Queen band and the point of view that he had about Queen. You are NOT fans of what Queen (Brian, Roger John and Freddie) did in the Queen band.
In the WHOLE history of Queen they ALWAYS said that Queen weren't a band with a leader but they were a band with each member had the same help in writing music: ACCEPT IT AND ADMIT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!And ADMIT that you ARE FANS OF FREDDIE MERCURY INSTEAD OF BEING FANS OF QUEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All the people I know who cares about what Brian and Roger and John did in the Queen history wanted to attend one show at least!!!!!WHILE all the people I know who cares only about the freddie style singing, the freddie style of play live and the freddie style of writing music didn't attend a show.

You have no right to call yourself fans of Queen but call yourself fans of Freddie Mercury ONLY.
I've seen live Eric Clapton, Steve Morse, Joe Satriani (2 times), Steve Vai, Robert Fripp, Santana, Steve Hackett, Frank Gambale, and i must to say that NO GUITARIST I've ever heard played with a so strong emotion, so much passion, and so much soul like Brian May plays (I've seen him 3 times).Roger Taylor is not the best drummer in the world technically but he has groove, music, and rythmical precision that i think it's one of the best drummers in the world.
If you don't care at all to see 2 of the greatest rock musicians of all the times you have no humility in listening to music and you don't like music.

This is my last post about the criticism against this tour. It's really sad seeing a lot of suckers that have nothing to do except of telling shit about 2 great musicians (and they attended also some concerts while there are a lot of people would like to have attend a concert but they can't becuase they don't have enought money) .I know that this forum is getting worse everyday but sometimes you go below the limits of human intelligence.

Let's create the 'This Is Not Queen' forum and move all of that useless crap there...

I myself was a skeptic of this tour to begin with.

But I am over that.
Let me tell you why.

Everyone at first said...Paul Rodgers??
What the fuck??
He sounds nothing like Freddie!!
Where's George Michaels??

I must say, I am glad that at least they decided not to go with a singer who was a "Freddie rip off".

The only complaints I have read so far about this tour are:

"Paul Rodgers is a great singer, but he sings the melodies different, and he needs to knock that bluesy shit off".

Guess what folks....Paul Rodgers is the fucking blues!!!
Paul Rodgers is hailed by many as the BEST white male blues singer....and is hailed by many as the best white singer their is.

Now, I don't totally agree with this....but the facts remain:

*Paul can sing.
*Paul is considered by some to be the best.
*Paul is not trying to rip off our Freddie.

Paul Rodgers gets it.
He can't be Freddie Mercury, and no one can replace Freddie Mercury.... Paul knows he is not Queen's singer.

Paul is simply filling in for Queen's awesome frontman because sadly he is no longer with us.

Meanwhile, Paul gets to perform a new spin on some of his own classics with input from Brian & Rodger.

This is hard for some of us to believe....but check this out: I ran into a man yesterday that feels with all of his heart that Paul is the star of this tour.... and it is Brian and Roger that are filling in as drummer and guitarist backing Paul up.

This is not bullshit..and he was serious.

It took me awhile to get over this tour, and it would have been complete fine with me if our remaining Queen members would have went the Deacon route...

But guess what.
The legacy with Mercury stands.

Everyone knows this isn't really Queen.

What this is is two music legends playing songs from their awesome band with a singer who is a legend in his own right.

Paul is not Freddie, he's Paul Rodgers....
whose been in Bad Company, Free, and The Firm...

He's been in a band with the likes of Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page.... now he's in a short term project/band with Brian May and Roger Taylor.

You don't head up 3 successful bands, and sing with Brian May or Jimmy Page backing you up if you suck.

Freddie Mercury is not replaceable.
This is no mystery.

Let me ask all of you this....

If Brian would have passed away in 1991....
and in 2005, Freddie and Roger wanted to tour one last time....after much thought, they decided to do it. (John still said no, as in this case)

It was released in the Newspaper:
This summer Queen+Eric Clapton tour.

Yep, lets say Mr. Clapton was learning Queen songs, and felt honored to be on stage with Freddie and Roger, filling in for Brian who passed away.

Would you go to this concert?
Would you be interested in tickets?
Would you buy a cd that they put out?

My guess is everyone reading this would be interested.

The same thing is happening here... only Freddie has died, Brian is here... and Paul Rodgers is the man filling in.

Its the best we got right now....

I got over it...and now I think its pretty cool.

I agree 100% with you. As I said it before, those who stopped being supportive of Queen are not true fans of the band and you're damn right.

To all the people that keep complaining about Queen "ruining Freddie's musical legacy": stop living in the past. The show must go on. Did you ever listen to that particular song? I doubt it. It was the last single they released before Freddie passed away. You can take this song as Freddie's last wish about music (don't remind me it was written by Brian, as long as it's credited to Queen, it's a Queen song, get my drift). Who the heck are we to judge them for wanting to keep the show going on?! The Stones, AC/DC, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd - all of them replaced one or two members, but took the show on and on. And nobody called them crap, as we use to call our "favorite" band.

And to all those who despise Paul Rodgers: I'd like to see you instead of him. Under pressure, in front of 14000 people which you have to seduce and charm with your performance, knowing that you'll always be compared to that magical Freddie, singing songs you only rehearsed for a couple of months, playing together with a band you're not accustomed to, being compelled to fit into their music and their stage attitude... Oh I'd give you a golden crown if you were able to sing as well as he does! So give us a break, if you want to keep mourning, do it elsewhere please!

I once got flamed for accusing all the negativity from this board and most probably I'll get flamed again. But I don't give a damn anymore. If Queen get flamed like that (for things and music they did since 1973 till 2005), why should I complain for being flamed myself? It's an honour to be treated the way you treat Queen :)

P.S. Once again, apologies to the many great guys and gals around here, this was in no way directed to them :)

Great post, my friend!

However, just for the record, I've read more than one complaint about Queen + PR, and the most disturbing of them all were:

"Paul Rodgers is a terrible substitute for Fred"
"This is a sad comeback"
"This is not Queen"

So my point is:

1) Paul is NOT a substitute for Fred and he is great
2) This is not a sad comeback, but a splendid one
3) This is indeed Queen, whether you accept it or not, it's still Queen

And if this board doesn't stop complaining about every little thing Queen did, does or will do in the future, this forum will get pathetic, insane and, using your favorite word, completely CRAPPY.

I can fully respect the folks that aren't supportive of this tour. I, myself, have just decided that since I was too young to enjoy the magic live of the original line-up, I'll have to settle with seeing 50% of Queen live.

50% (Brian & Roger)
SUCKS when compared to..
100% (Bulsara, RT, BM, JD)

However...50% beats 0%.

If you still can't find it in your heart to be supportive of Paul filling in on lead vocal duties, thats ok too.

But please don't do it at the expense of calling Paul Rodgers a poor singer.

Listen to Bad Company's "Straight Shooter" or "Running with the Pack" albums and then come back here and tell me he sucks.

No one will ever put on a show like Freddie.
His story and talent is what legends are made of.

But we can't treat someone like Paul like he's Robbie Williams or Justin Timberlake.

If you see a list that has Freddie Mercury, Mick Jagger, Roger Daltry, Jim Morrison, Robert Plant, Bon Scott, or Steve Perry on it, its a pretty safe bet that you are looking at a compiled list of rocks greatest singers....

I dare, bet, challenge, anyone to find me a list like this, compiled from various sources, and opinions, then published in any form of media that doesn't list Paul Rodgers as one of the greatest frontmen ever.

Hey Scott, You haven't LIVED til you've heard Paul & Bad Company's sort of Equivalent to Queen's LOML...my favorite Bad Company song, the ballad, Silver Blue & Gold....

Also love by Paul & BC, Gone, Gone, Gone,
Oh Atlanta, Movin On', and yes, Seagull which I am glad he is doing with Queen. Great stuff!

I will add Ian Gillan to your list...but you have the right point with your post.

I wouldn't say I'm against this tour, but I am against the setlist. If you're going to bother coming back then mix up a little. Have some fun out there and stop just playing the hits. If they're catering to the casual fan then mission accomplished, but come on, throw the hardcore fans a bone. Would it kill them to play "It's Late", "Sleeping On The Sidewalk", or.... ANYTHING! At least give us medley or surprise us with the order. They been closing with WWRY and WRTC since the '77! I don't buy the "no time to rehearse" arguement. They are professionals. The Black Crowes, for example, just reformed and are playing totally different sets each night. Performing doesn't have to be perfect; that's why they call it "playing".

Having said that if they come to Canada or the West Coast of the US, I'm there.
