''What this is is two music legends playing songs from their awesome band with a singer who is a legend in his own right.

Paul is not Freddie, he's Paul Rodgers....
whose been in Bad Company, Free, and The Firm...

He's been in a band with the likes of Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page.... now he's in a short term project/band with Brian May and Roger Taylor.

You don't head up 3 successful bands, and sing with Brian May or Jimmy Page backing you up if you suck.''

I love you..will you marry me?

I've always loved PR..I grew up with people who saw Free and worship him. I've seen him solo a few times and loved it. I would never have put him together with B & R but it _so_ works. The HOF thing blew me away and the two gigs I've seen so far have been awesome. I think it works _beacause_ he's so different. Also he's a _rock_ singer and not a pop singer and he's a legend fergawdsake.

I find that you people who are against this tour are NOT fans of Queen but they are fans of Freddie Mercury: you are fans of what Freddie Mercury did in the Queen band and the point of view that he had about Queen. You are NOT fans of what Queen (Brian, Roger John and Freddie) did in the Queen band.
In the WHOLE history of Queen they ALWAYS said that Queen weren't a band with a leader but they were a band with each member had the same help in writing music: ACCEPT IT AND ADMIT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!And ADMIT that you ARE FANS OF FREDDIE MERCURY INSTEAD OF BEING FANS OF QUEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
***********************************************

thats one of the most unfair and uneducated statements i've ever read.

it isn't totally your fault- many people 'against' the tour have been very outspoken and rude and insensitive.

but i find the above statement completely unfair. i am against using the name 'queen'- but i've supported the tour, am a huge fan of queen, and i realize that is just *my* opinion and i shouldn't try to insult others who don't agree with me. so, really, there are people who have their reasons... like myself.. but you know, brian and roger have more of a right to do what they think is right than i do, or any of you. which is why when i hear brian say paul rodgers was a huge hero of freddie, i think he is rationalizing and i don't think thats entirely true.. however, thats a person who spent over two decades of his life with freddie... unlike me.. so you just have to accept that he is in the position to say such things. many of brian's songs and roger's songs have meant so much to me-i'm extremely offended someone would tell me how i feel, and that the reason i am not thrilled with the tour is because i am a closet secret freddie fan and that i dont care about the others.. utter nonsense.

personally, i am going to go to see bri + rog + PR and have a blast.. it sounds very good for what it is. and, half of queen is still a thousand times better than all the other crap bands that are out right now- and im sure *all* queen fans agree with me on THAT.

to get into quotes, i could get into how they also "always said" that if one of them left, that would be it.. but i wont. i dont want to argue. i just want to point out that you can't speak for everyone and you can't claim that everyone is the same. i dont think this is 'queen'- but im happy for all my fellow Queen fans who are really excited- and why can't that be enough?

Well what we gonna do Queen is still legally Queen, who can deny it, thats they way the law is, so Roger and Brian the 50% of the band is still playing whats mean that they are still Queen, so they still use that Name for this group they are in their right. . . if you like or not that is legal!! they can do what they are doing, there is not treason. . . if you read the history, Brian and Roger are the 2 early member of Smile then called Queen some years later by Freddie. . . but who come first? . . . the answer is Mr. Brian May and he is still alive. . . I am not agree with the new "bad company" but . . . I listen the Files the people are recently sharing by this site. . . and Its Ok! Two Old musician, love to play and they dont WAN TO DIE in the art world, they still can play, so let them satisfy their dream as a musician DONT LET THEM DIE too, they have Right to continue with the name Queen there are 50 percent of the band alive!! come on!

jesus christ, fuck you. first of all, dont yell at me in goddamn all caps in your shitty grammar. i'm a queen fan, and this 'queen tour' in my opinion is the lamest most pathetic thing roger and brian have ever done. i still love them. i'm not against them touring, but I dont have to like it. i'm not out there protesting in all caps to all the people buying tickets to these shows - that's up to them. so shut the fuck up or go yell and scream somewhere else.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but during the Wembley concert, when tabloid rumours were going around about Queen splitting up, didn't Freddie say something along the lines of: "we will stay together until WE fucking well die!"?
If Freddie wanted Queen to finish as soon as he died wouldn't he say, "we'll stay together until I fucking well die!"?

Well 3 members are still alive and Freddie would want Queen to carry on without him. So why people keep being nasty about Brian and Roger is beyond me. We should all be gratefull to them both, after all they are doing it for us, the fans.

I dont know how the hell SOME of you lot call yourself Queen fans, treating Brian and Roger the way you do. True Queen fans would treat Brian and Roger with nothing but respect!(Like most people here)

Respect to John too! (I'm not trying to be Ali G)

So lets all stop being negative, chill out and enjoy the shows while we can :-)
But now you can kiss my ass goodbye

I myself was a skeptic of this tour to begin with.

But I am over that.
Let me tell you why.

Everyone at first said...Paul Rodgers??
What the fuck??
He sounds nothing like Freddie!!
Where's George Michaels??

I must say, I am glad that at least they decided not to go with a singer who was a "Freddie rip off".
But guess what.
The legacy with Mercury stands.

Everyone knows this isn't really Queen.

What this is is two music legends playing songs from their awesome band with a singer who is a legend in his own right.

Freddie Mercury is not replaceable.
This is no mystery.

Let me ask all of you this....

If Brian would have passed away in 1991....
and in 2005, Freddie and Roger wanted to tour one last time....after much thought, they decided to do it. (John still said no, as in this case)

It was released in the Newspaper:
This summer Queen+Eric Clapton tour.

Yep, lets say Mr. Clapton was learning Queen songs, and felt honored to be on stage with Freddie and Roger, filling in for Brian who passed away.

Would you go to this concert?
Would you be interested in tickets?
Would you buy a cd that they put out?

My guess is everyone reading this would be interested.

The same thing is happening here... only Freddie has died, Brian is here... and Paul Rodgers is the man filling in.

Its the best we got right now....

I got over it...and now I think its pretty cool.

me too! and now i have the oppertunity to hear all my favourite songs live which i NEVER had before as freddie died when i was six months old. my message is: LEAVE PAUL ROGERS ALONE AND LET HIM ROCK ON!!!

I thought I'd share my comments on this upcoming tour. I picked up on Queen in the early 90's a year or two after Freddie passed away. Since then I've become a huge Queen fan, owning and enjoying every album and the solo stuff as well.

I live in the east coast of Canada (I said coast, not Ontario), so I've never been able to get out and catch a glimpse of anyone related to Queen. Frankly, I could care less about Paul Rodgers, but I'm very excited in the fact that they might be touring the States. I figure they might be coming as close as New York or Toronto.

I'd gladly spend a few hundred dollars to fly out and see Roger and Brian performing Queen songs. Frankly, I'm offended when I hear that there's people who are AGAINST this tour - that's just silly! If you don't like what they're doing, then don't go see them. As a 20-something fan living in Canada, this is as close as I'm ever going to come to witnessing Queen live. This is all I have, and I know I'm going to have a blast. It's literally a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me which I never thought would happen. Hell, I thought my only chance was for Brian to put out another album and decide to play a few American dates. Since he hit his 50's, I had pretty much given up on that idea too.

Long live Queen!

at the end of the day....Freddie died and that is sad...and there won't be another Freddie.....but the chance to see Roger and Brian playing Queen songs to stadium filled audiences is AMAZING!!....Paul is great too and very much respected.....this actually brings a lot of respect back to the band that has been treated badly by the press while they were out of the spotlight....QUEEN RULES....and the SHOW MUST GO ON!!

QUEEN ROCKS FOREVERMORE!

People who keep comparing paul rodgers to freddie are really thick - how many times do we have to say, does brian have to say, does roger have to say, that paul rodgers is NOT a replacement freddie.
Quote Brian May: "I was always against the idea of putting someone in there trying to impersonate Freddie in any way. He's [Paul Rodgers] nothing like Freddie because he comes from his own place."

As scott said, if eric clapton had of toured with freddie and roger, could you call eric clapton a replacement? of course not, he is his own man, a legend in his own right, just like paul rodgers is. and paul rodgers does the job bloody damn good in my opinion.
and unlike most of these critics, i've actually been at one of the concerts, (like a lot of you here) and i can honestly say it was one of the best fu**ing nights night of my life. it left me emotionally drained for the rest of the weekend. they played "WE WILL ROCK YOU" and it isnt called that for nothing, even if freddie couldnt be there.
i'll never forget that concert, and if i ever get another chance i'll go to another Queen + PR concert, and ill fucking well love it. its nice that they have a tribute video to freddie during it though, and its only right.
anyway, sorry for ranting on, i just wanted to say my opinion on all this.
