Just trying to understand how the new pope is bad because of his opinions on Rock & Roll, but the old pope is a saint because of:

John Paul's prohibitions on condom use for African catholics (at high risk of HIV contraction)

John Paul's statement that gay marriage is evil

and worst of all John Paul's role in covering up the sex abuse scandal and rewarding the disgraced ex-cardinal Bernard Law (who played musical chairs by moving pedophile priests from parish to parish) by appointing him as an honored head of a Rome bascillica (with healthy benefits and housing and salary).

Of course, then, maybe you were to overcome at the passing of the pope to be able to recognize the hypocracy of the Catholic church.

I am glad to see you are starting to open your eyes about the hypocracy of the Catholic Church.

To be fair to the new Pope - he has no history with the Nazi Party itself. When he was a lad during the war he was in the Hitler Youth - which was compulsory - and never joined the National Socialist Party. Just wanted to clear that point up before people think he might be goose stepping round the Vatican.

The fact that the Pope condemns condom use is his own opinion, and nobody is forced to do so. If you decide to stop using a condom becuase the Pope said so, then you're the one to blame for being a gullible fool.

Seems like every single post I make turns nothing but into a personal attack against me. Bad if I make fun of the Pope, bad also if I defend him isn't it?

The truth is that nobody is in the position to judge others, especially when they have never met someone in person. I still admire John Paul II for being a good man and from my point of view his good deeds stood above anything that was criticized against him. Others might disagree, but nobody can deny that the man did a lot of good things, but at the same time it also can not be denied that he had his share of mistakes. I obviously have to admit that he wasn't perfect and in many ways he was a sinner just like the rest of us. Sinning is human, and that's the way it will always be because nobody is perfect. Yet I could never be able to answer the question of whether he went to heaven or hell, because that's God's work. It doesn't matter how close we're to someone, we still can not take God's position to judge for things we don't know, whether they're good or bad. We might be able to judge for certain actions, but the search for the complete truth of what's inside someone's heart and mind could be nearly endless.

The way you put things against me, makes it seem like I'm some kind of completely devoted Catholic who is spewing hatred against anyone who disagrees with the Catholic church, and let me tell you... THAT'S A LOAD OF BULLCRAP, and for many reasons that I don't think I need to mention again because many people here know me well enough for me not to be able to remind them of that again. I consider myself very open minded, and I'm willing to always have a good discussion as long as the personal aspect is being put to the side... but with you, it's just impossible.

I have only posted lately against your posts concerning the Pope. You were the most vocal of those that shouted down those that spoke against John Paul, and decided to label us all as "hateful", without paying any attention to any of the reasons given against the pope.
