Hi folks

Rather than choosing the easy way and request / beg / demand, try to find other Queen fans and trade concerts.

Its easy!

Let me give you a real example. Last weekend, a fan from Spain wanted bootlegs from the current Tour. We agreed a deal. I would send him about 12 discs and the 46664 DVD. I needed shows from various years - and so we traded.

It cost me about £1-90 to post the discs to Spain
(not a lot really - enough to buy Fish and Chips)

The best Bit: We had receieved each others discs within 5 days!

Cheap, quick, easy and you make friends too.

I can now add another good contact to my list and we'll trade again soon.

How long would it have taken for me to download 6 concerts in flac?

It took less than 5 days for 12 discs to arrive from Spain.

I'm trading 2 DVD's with a guy named Roger (not Roger Taylor, sorry!), because he has videos I want.

It's sometimes easier to trade than to be frustrated with no downloads available for that particular item (or if the item is no longer in shops, etc.)

"So, for me the best option is downloading.

And it's already the 21th Century, the Post Services are more and more old-fashioned, the Internet is the future. We can't fight against it"

would have to agree with you there. south america seems to be a no go area for many traders. couple of guys I know have had packages "lost" over there.

Does South America deserve that repuation?

I was going to do a trade with that particular Spanish gentleman you speak of, but you beat me to it :) It doesn't help when I am in Australia.

Does anyone down under need any 2005 tour concerts to trade for good quality Queen concerts from yesteryear?

I like trades, it's just difficult to find anyone who wants what I have.

In the 80's and early 90's I traded concerts through the mail, amassing thousands of hours of bootlegs on cassette. The internet was virtually unknown and many of my contacts came through notice pages in magazines and then word of mouth. These days downloading is fairly easy, and rewarding considering how little work is involved.

On the other hand I still make the occasional trade via post and there is nothing that beats the excitement of a brand new package in your mailbox. Sometimes traders will add personal touches and letters to the mix.

So yes, trading is a viable alternative and will be long after bootleg sites are shut down.

The trading alternative is the hub. My experience with running a bootleg tree:

5-10 % of packages are lost or broken.

International shipments average 3 weeks.

Trading on the hub is quick, modern, streamlined and easy.

i don't think it works
some people are a little too conceited and smug for their own good!

the whole "i've got houston, and i ain't sharing it" attitude really sucks. no-one is asking those that have a complete houston to just "give it away"

but i offered the best part of 20gb of queen concerts to anyone who could do me houston 77, liverpool 73 and golders green 73 (all complete)

and i got one taker - who has since not followed up his initial interest
it would appear that these three concerst are perhaps holding too much currency around here - let's face it - you buy ONE CD from a fair and you won't trade it for 20gb of more concerts? bizarre!!! let's face it - to buy 20gb of concerst will cost a darn sight more

Since you acknowledge that your 20GB came from the hub, is it not fair to assume that any collector who has those 3 shows would also have most of your 20GB?

I don't think that is fair to blame collectors like you do.

Finally someone believes me!
South America is HORRIBLE for trading!
Too expensive, too slow...

And if I'm going to receive something from another country, the government can simply "steal" it and give it to its owner only if the owner accepts to pay an tax. They choose the packages randomly.

That's why I prefer downloading than trading. And soon the connections will be so fast that people will be able to e-mail their video bootlegs, I can bet all my collection that the most of you will see it happening before we die. It already happens in some universities in the USA, doesn't it? ;-)[/QUOTE]

You prefer downloading because it requires nothing from you.

Your excuses toward trading - poor postal systems, takes too long, government theft - may be legitimate, but that does not mean you can't trade. Many users trade online, through such things as MSN, so what's your excuse now?

All I hear from you, Rafael, are excuses as to why you can't do something, yet I don't hear any offers for you to share. Ask all you want, but why should people listen if you don't help out yourself.

it would still be rare
there ain't many people out there with 20gb of live gigs to trade

i've also got about another 10 gb of studio rare - ie outtakes, bbc, de lane lea, and other oddities

you're nota talking about thousands of people trading 20gb - just a handful - that means it remains rare
