Aren't you guys sick and tired of being sterotyped as snobby and overly sophisticated people on American flicks?
If I was a Brit I'd be smashing my TV to pieces everytime that I see a shot of somewhere in the UK with that 'Old Britannia' song being played as background music.

But that's exactly what all British people are like.
De Britse mensen zijn niet die manier!

British people are not that way!

You mean, they don't chase each other around white Yakkity Sax plays in the background?
They don't slap old men in the back of the head repeatedly?
Shit.

Since I don't define any kind of national identity via some other countries cultural lowest common denominator....no.
Thanks for asking though.

On the other hand I find American people in British movies extremely annoying and yet I seem to be doing okay over here. Maybe it's just the accent.

I LOVE the words Brits use. I have picked up so much recently that I have started saying things naturally Brit..instead of American like "utter Bullocks" "Get Bent" "What A Tosser",
"I'll Have a Cuppa"...and my USA bretheren look at me like WTF!

Eee Gad...Not Terry Thomas!...
Oh and no photos of Prince Charles cuz he's the ugliest man on the earth, not to mention he rivals Dumbo the flying elephant in the ears department.
I don't have a photo, but I would like to think more like oh, Sean Connery, Alan Bates, Roger Moore, Oliver Reed, Richard Harris, Bob Geldof...from England, Scotland, Ireland..all that.
Even though I'm not a Brit, I do find it a bit wankish. For a start the word wank is never included. It's a good word for people to start using. Wank! Wanker! Wanking! See, it lightens the mood up.
I do hate how Australians are portrayed though. We do have 'roo's in our back yard.

What comes to mind when you guys think of Americans? Is it Madonna? Marilyn Monroe? Gwen?

Blame Steve Irwin, Paul Hogan, and those Foster's commercials.

Neither one of those... just you, Lisser.
awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!
It bugs me that Americans (well, okay, American television) lump all English, Scottish, Welsh, and Northern Irish people together just as "British". Usually they're stereotypical tea-drinking English ponces yet are still identified as British. Are Americans really so ignorant of the world outside their continent that they find the idea of distinct cultures and nationalities inconceivable? I hope not.
