Fantastically done by you Tero, going from Finland to Sweden for the Queen concert. I wish I could do the same and go to the Hyde Park gig, Im sure that will be a happening worth experiencing!!!! Are you going to any more of the concerts?

After seeing the show, I would have wanted to go and see them again (mostly because of Paul Rodgers... :/ ), but there's no way I could afford it.
But if they do another tour next year, I'll be going to at least one concert. ;)

Aah, the shortage of money, what would life be if one had endless resourses? As a student since more years than I like to count (Im a PhD student now, but have been years and years at University) Im always short of cach. Hope that we are more lucky in other things...
nudge, nudge...
;o)
Have you heard anything regarding a concert next year? What? Where?

The only thing I've heard about the future is that Q+PR are considering recording an album in the future... I wouldn't be surprised if that happens, and in that case they will be touring again.

Tero,

whoever you are -- you have absolutely no idea what good music is all about. You are a sad individual i reckon.

Brian May is one of the best guitarists on the planet and has been one of the most inventive players in a generation inspiring thousands of kids to pick up the axe. His techinique and sound are entirely unique --- i don't believe i have heard any of your stuff by the way ... ???

If you hate Queen so much why not do us all a favour and stay at home and do the knitting!

Hello The Game! How do you fuck the papers, seriously?
According to my experience the reviewers write crap about conserts and artists and they can just go on doing this year after year spewing there negative words around. How do we stop them polluting the atmosphere?

I think "last horizon" was awsome, and the lights enhanced that feeling!

LOL!!
Ofcourse you can`t fuck the papers, but i do think you know what i mean. They cheer Britney, but think Queen+PR is crap. As said before: "fuck the papers, they don`t know when good music is played".
K
Well TheGame... and here I had quite a few ideas about how to proceed...
;o)
Seriously, HOW do we get the people writing musical reviews NOT to write about Britney as she was gods gift to mankind when YES, Queen is THE GIFT! (among some other gifts of course ;o)

Personally I believe that musical reviewers sort of follow th stream, every band that has a good review gets another as some sort of fashion, and the band that in the first review get written about with words like "pathetic" gets these words in the next one as well as the reviewer reads all the others beforehand and have a predjudice about the concert.

Personally I think the Queen +PR concert was an avsome experience! And the guys really ROCK!

We mean the same here, and indeed, Queen is the gift here! You wrote very well i must say, and you got a huge point. The reviewers sort of follow the stream, the swedish review of the concert is an good example of that. I even wrote back to the reviewers to review their review!
And yes, the guys still ROCKS!

Can't you post your review of the review here? I'd love to read it!

That's right... I keep forgetting that I MUST like longwinded guitar solos to appreciate music of any kind.

It's so easy to think that there are more instruments and artists out there, but I'm glad there's always someone like you to remind me of the facts.

I really love it when people make the assumption that you can't possibly like Queen if you don't idolise Mr. May.

I just think that to rubbish Brian May's guitar solos as boring is pretty pathetic. If you listen to his work over the years, each solo is different -- it may have similar figures, signatures or licks at times but every one is unique. a reflection of 'How he feels on the night' and so on.

but hey --- you have a right to your opinion and i have a right to tell you it's wrong.

Try listening to a selection of solos from 1974 to 2005 and the penny will drop. It's about dynamics with Brian, touch and feel. If you play guitar you should understand what this means. And if you don't play guitar but love music, you should STILL understand what this means.

still ... don't give up your knitting either!

That's your opinion. I just happen to think that guitar solos for their own sake are boring. It's understandable that somebody who plays the guitar him/herself would find those subtle differences, but to me it souns like the same every time. I'm sorry.

I'm also sorry for not being macho enough to like the solos, but I'm sure you're having my share of those wet dreams about the red special. Enjoy! ;)

Well, no need to apologise for not being macho --- that's entirely your own problem. As i keep repeating - knitting appears to be the extent of your creativity. Maybe if you crochet a Red Special copy you may start to understand why solos exist in songs.

Have you ever studied a master painter at work ... the subtlety of stroke, the nuances of light and shade, the raw aggression mixed with gentle blending of colour, the density of the paint, the whole as opposed to the part ... nah! didn't think so.

back to your knitting then ..... stitch one, cross one, stitch one :}

Well, ok. Here`s what i wrote to the reviewer in expressen. My review to aftonposten was much the same. Perhaps this was a stupid thing to do, but the reviewer was not proffesional.

To Anders N.

"I just wonder if you attended at the Queen concert?
You should also know that Paul don`t replace Freddie, and this makes a huge
difference. This is Queen+Paul Rodgers, but can`t expect the press to see
the differnce, or should we?
Your review was shit, not just because you didn`t like the artist, but it
wasn`t objective either. Some shorts lines, and the summary was negative....Not
proffesional written, but hey, you might not be proffesional either. Swedish
people, which attended at the concert and read your review, was actually
embarrassed by your review. This tells a lot, hope you are proud. Let`s
all praise Britney Spears! Get the irony..."
K
Thanks "TheGame" for sharing the letter to the reviewer with us. You did a good thing in writing to him as I only thought "I ought to write to the creep and tell him what a Queen fan thought of this event" but I did not write... Great work that you did!

And about solos... Im a woman and I am always excited and covered in goose bumps when hearing a guitar solo. Something in the sound, the harmonies, the shift between mild and aggressive, between slow and rapid gets to my nervs and feelings in a way that I find difficult to describe but is great anyway! Well, do you have to be MACHO to apreciate a solo???? Where did you get that idea?

I agree with you entirely Katrin. well said! It's nothing to do with any kind of macho nonsense -- it's about being in tune and at one with the music. I have listened to Queen songs and Brian's solos thousands of times over the years and i hear something different every single time i listen -- they are stunning.
