Anyone know the guitar part for the heavy bit of Doing All Right?
Also, anyone think Queen's debut album is underrated? Particularly Keep Yourself Alive, Doing All Right and Great King Rat.

Underrated by everyone except us.
I think it was a great debut. The songs are so different than anything else (that they did or anyone else did). I like it. Even Jesus, which gets a bit of a slagging off at times.
Live, the songs you mentioned are even better.

Cheers, Serry, that's exactly what I mean.
I think Doing All Right could have been a single.....great song!
yup :) That album is great :D Many of my favorite songs are on it: Liar, Great King Rat, doing alright and My fairy King:)
Very underrated. My fav track from it- great King rat- is one of the most underrated songs in entire band's catalogue. Great, great track.
But Liar, Doing All Right or Son And Daughter (could have been written by Iommi) are almost as good. Queen had much worse albums...

Very underrated album by many a debut to proud of all the old live classics are on here over produced over amplified just the way i like to hear it.
Doin' Alright - GREAT GREAT GREAT song. But not my fave on Queen l. Wich means there are even better songs, at least imho. So you can bring it to conclusion what do I think of Queen l:)) Keep yourself alive, one of my fave queen songs in general, it's PERFECT, so different, Great King Rat - wooooooooooooow, My Fairy King, Jesus, all of them are great. Come to think of it, I like every single song on this album, I guess it's third on my list, right behing Q ll and ADATR. Great album.
And about it being underrated - well yes, in general, like many queen albums, cause people haven't even heard for them, so of course they're underrated, but among queen fans I think not. Most of the people who are into queen, at least those I know personally, like their first five albums most, queen l among them of course.

I lent Queen I out one night at the pub. Pissed, naturally and forgot who I lent it to so I haven't heard it in about four years. Still HMV are selling the 1994 remasters for 4 quid so I'll get it soon.
At the risk of being shot down, I've never understood why Keep yourself Alive remains so popular. I've always found it a bit plodding and uninspired. Ties with Modern Times Rock n Roll as the worst track on Queen. I think Liar or Doin Alright were both better choices as a debut single.
But hey, what do I know !!

I think Queen is underrated even by fans! It's a great debut album, and I love Liar, Doing All Right, Son And Daughter and The Night Comes Down especially. I really like the heavy, kind of muffled and imperfect sound it has.
Liar is my FAV song from Queen I
I was surprised it never charted here in the States, where it was a single, but then I heard the 3-minute version... yuck! They should not butcher songs that way!
Doing all right was originally a Smile song, right? I've never heard the Smile version, but I imagine is was good, it is a good song.

Queen I is a great album. I love The night comes down , modern times of rock'n roll and Jesus. Although I think the drumsound is bad. It's too dry.
does roger sing the verses on the smile version of doin all right?
