Thanks for your explanation Andrew, I just wanted to add something about the '39 thing...

I just wanted to say that it was on the original source disc where we get this from, so I don't know if it's on other Houston bootlegs but we've got it this way.

Thank you all for the kind responses and for downloading this concert!

I couldn't say for sure but it would seem 'logical' that WMP9 and the Nero FastBurn pluggin would also work with MP3 files - but don't quote me on that, I haven't tried myself.

Just finished burning the 2nd disc - I've got an old burner so it took 1/2 hour (I can hear you all snickering...lol...but hey - at least it doesn't spit out coasters (bad discs). )

Cheerzzz

I don't mean to seem ungrateful, but couldn't you seed the tracks by their proper name?

You have to ask Thijs why he didn't do that :P I didn't rip the disc.

I downloaded this yesterday and have been playing it all day.

To three of you that made this possible and also to Queenzone- thank you so much !!!

THis concert is as legendary as its reputation ! Its by far the best 77 show i've ever heard !!!

Listening to this I could'nt help but feel this so should have been an official release. I feel sad for the many millions of fans that won't get to hear this show because they don't use Queenzone or dont have access to computers.

I think Jim Beaches excuse that this would never be released officially because of piano mic problems is bullshit !! This desrves to be heard by everyone. Thank god for this amazing recording and for that I thank all of you that have made this possible !
What is left of your dream...Just the words on your stone...

Thanks again for this one guys!

I downloaded both the mp3 version and the wma torrent, and while they sound almost identical (volume levels are a little different), I believe that the wma files are encoded at a higher rate (for some reason the mp3 files are showing 0kbps). wma files are not my choice of media either, but files encoded at 192kbps in wma files are much better quality than mp3 files encoded at the same rate.

Either way, burn this to disc, and crank it up, and the discussion about formats is meaningless. It sound F&*KING AWESOME!!!

I'm encoding the wma files into individual 320kpbs mp3s (just to have mp3s on the computer) so if anyone wants I could torrent the mp3s at some time. RVW's mp3s are there of course, but these would be split into individual files, and be slightly better quality. Not that it really makes a difference. The only thing better than either of these two awesome downloads woulf be the flac torrent :) Oh, that's right - we can't beg. Hmmm... what have I got to trade.....

Okay for soemone who practically lives on his computer, what am I missing here that isn't allowing me to download the Houston 77 concert.

I'm obviously missing something (BTW - I have downloaded Bittirrent)

This Concert was sooo cool. I had just moved to Houston a month before and got to go. Not a bad concert for my only one to see them at.

man... did you went to see queen in Houston 1977? Wow... lucky lucky you!

Did you made any photographs?

I've got a couple of questions....bear with me - lol.

1 - I may be completely out to lunch here...
Has anyone noticed that Melancholy blues fades considerably at the end, and white man fades in?

I'm wondering...would it make more sense to put Melancholy blues at the end of disc 1 versus the current layout of disc 1 and disc 2?

Maybe this is the case - I'm not sure if '39 to 'Mel-Blues' would be 'as seamless' but for the sake of completing the 'acoustic set' and wher Mel-Blues does fade out (or appear to) - I'm wondering if anyone else has thought of this?

Just an observation.

2 - Could someone provide a definitive list of where the 'source skips/cuts' and 'fadein/outs' occur on the original CD recording? (i.e. time the skip occurs during '39'; in 'WWRY(fast) etc...)

3 - Is the correct layout for this CD available? And might I suggest - if it is being scanned -that it be done at 300dpi - for best print quality?

Cheerzzz and I'm totally loving this recording. I hope these questions will generate answers that will benefit all who have downloaded this show. A MUST for all fans.

Not saying it's a problem...but just wondered why the original source had Mel-Blues on disc 2.

Will there be any difference in sound going from
'39 to 'Mel-Blues' then?

Thanks
S
Also - are the 2 audience tracks meant to go back to back? Just wanting to confirm. I call one the 'guitar' track, as I can hear someone unplugging their guitar, and the other the 'drum' track as there appears to be some related sound there.

Thanks

Great and sincere thanks to you, guys who allowed to access to this concert. I've been searching for good stuff from the NOTW tour since Apr 1978, when I first saw the video (from the Houston show) on French TV about the very 1st venue of Queen in Paris. I only knew the slow studio version of WWRY and was blown away when I discovered how the played it fast... I always thought it was (and still is) the best period of the band, musically and visually and maybe this is the reason why it was so difficult to find concert from this era.
Just one thing : On the Houston video and others boots from this concert, the fast version of WWRY is shorter. Freddie just sings the chorus after the solo guitar and the break without the 3rd couplet of the song as it is on the studio version. In the present version, Freddie sings the whole song. So it seems there are two live versions of this song. How can we explain it ?
