I think you completely missed the point. Personally, I too agree that when a musician records a song, that musician is able to use that song as they wish, and corporate sponsorship is okay.

But we're not complaining about that. What we're complaining about is the onslaught of posts you seem to make whenever the slightest idea crosses your mind. Yes I know, first amendment rights and all that, which I agree with, but you really have to draw the line somewhere. What discussion were you really hoping to create with this?

You do have a lot of good ideas, I'll give you that, but you post so frequently that it just becomes a bore. You also have a habit of not cutting to the chase of things, and just adding on to whatever you post. As someone said above, I posted two words and got a 100-word response. Your responses can also be abrasive from time to time; it's better to think about what you're going to post (and this goes for everyone, not just you specifically) and ask yourself, "Is this going to, in any way, make a contribution to the thread/messageboard or not?" I even ask myself that sometimes, and I show considerable restraint in what I post, but there are times when it just becomes too much and I have to post.

I don't see you ragging on several QZ Topic posters who create half a dozen posts a day about band wars, favorite songs/records/bands over and over and over, and the same topics that have been discussed 20 times already.

You also have a habit of saying 2 or 3 words..
Ah crap],

that are usually just bitchy remarks and offer nothing. Less is not more when it's intentionally meant as an attack.

Cause that is more entertaining than someone going on forever about a certain subject?

What a hypocrite you are Hero. I used to like you. You posted on the Topic that Queenzone was Fuc**d Up, that you didn't like that people were posting mean, bitchy remarks and how mad it made you and you "were leaving". Then you join in line with the nasty bitchy posters. More like a poseur.

Saying you think that was nasty... means you have not been in here long enough clearly. Over the years I had much more swearing and awkward comments at me.. that the thing I said clearly doesn't come close

Just cuz you didn't swear at me, doesn't mean it wans't nasty. Plus, as you said since people have been mean to you, YOU should KNOW better and not do that. And I HAVE had people curse like sailors at me!

Just doesn't seem like you to say anything with a snide tone at me. You are usually helpful and nice.

Well Arlene, since you state that corporate sponsorship is OK with you and Freddie, as long as Queen doesn't partner with musicians that suck, don't you see the obvious problem? Britney and Beyonce actually DO suck! (Really -- do B&B have anything in common with Queen?) Britney in terms of everything, while Beyonce is NOT a good musical fit with Queen -- did you consider that her sex appeal might have something to do with the Pepsi job? Sure, Beyonce's got soul, but if you want to see Queen's music co-branded with another musician, try

Aretha Franklin -- covering "Somebody to Love"

Beyonce and Britney simply do not command the same respect. Aretha Franklin spells it out for us, even. Remember? AF wrote a good bit of her own material (not to mention her staggering genius-level vocal talent) and dealt with a lot of cultural prejudice getting her work across. Of course, the legendary Otis Redding wrote "R-E-S-P-E-C-T." I respect hard work, but Britney and Beyonce are on a gravy train.

And so what if Freddie said corporate sponsorship is Ok. Other talented musicians make the point that corporate sponsorship is problematic. Neil Young's quite outspoken about corporate sponsorship and the strings that get attached. Pearl Jam raised awareness about Ticketmaster, and ClearChannel is like some nightmare flasback out of the WWRY musical. Devo got screwed likewise in a publishing deal and finally is getting paid by doing commercials and re-writing the material. Moby promoted a whole dang album on the basis of commercials etc -- remember when "Revolution" was used to promote Nike? Does Queen want "I Want to Break Free" to promote products involving child labor? Of course not. Why do musicians like Metallica sell out to the whims of their label and testify before Congress? Because labels don't pay musicians what they're really worth!

At the Velvet Revolver/Hoobastank show I saw last night, VR played all kinds of clips promoting a tv show for Robby Knievel -- and it fits! These guys are known to ride motorcycles and perform the muscial equivalent of jumping over the Grand Canyon. Oh, and the show ROCKED.

The topic wasn't about Brian & Roger performing with Britney & Beyonce. I was speaking of them in reference to the Pepsi Ad itself, as this topic is about music artists partnering with commercials and corporate sponsorship.

Yes I know very well that Neil Young is VERY vocal about hating that..while Moby LOVES doing that. Each artist has the right to approve or disapprove of that. My point was that Freddie DID approve of it.

As for Brian & Roger (or Pepsi) choosing to have them perform with Beyonce & Britney, THAT I agree was disenguous CRAP and ruined their credibility as artists with integrity and I would have LOVED to have them perform with someone like Aretha Franklin.

But...that would be ANOTHER topic, about WHO or what artists Queen chooses to perform with or approves performing with.

Frankly I hope Freddie did not roll over in his grave when Bri & Rog took up with Beyonce & Britney. That most defintely WAS a sellout in terms of integrity and credibility as I said. But go rag on Bri & Rog for agreeing to do that.

But....not to get your motor rolling...but I will STILL take Britney & Beyonce over the fact..STILL that Queen was HAPPY to take the money and run to play at .........SUN CITY.......That is the bottom of the barrell. And Freddie DID agree to do that and it's one of the few things I have yet to ever come to terms with.

How come you failed to mention that? Beyonce's & Brittany's worst crimes are that they are no talent sluts.

But they never imprisoned, enslaved, segregated and killed innocent Black people in their own country. And I N

Sorry, but you will see on this Topic that ALOT of people can be awful sarcastic and downright mean bullies for the fun of it so I didn't know you were serious, so I apologize.

Lately, I can't tell who is fu**ing with me and who wants to have an intelligent discussion, so sorry again. Alot of people on here seem to tell me I'm an idiot or are intimidated by me knowing anything so then they just say something mean.

ANYHOW., I am 43 years old, have loved Queen since 1975 when I first heard and saw Bohemian Rhapsody.

P.S. Thank you for the kind words. Lately they are in rare quantity around here.

I was wondering how Freddie would feel being a corporate shill fo Coke C2?
I heard Coke C2's television ad using I Want To Break Free a couple months back and thought it interesting.
It was nice to hear Queen's music being put out to the masses here in Canada, even if it was for watered down Coke.
